Had hands when it counted the most.Inconsistent but he was so beastly it didn't even really bother me that much. When he needed to perform, he did. Word. Those are my fondest memories of TO.

I'm not saying he exists, but if he did, would you tell him no?
He sounds like an individual that I would not say no to....if he existed....and he does not exist.I'm not saying he exists, but if he did, would you tell him no?
I see where you comin from but you're not seeing the complete picture. Most over-rated HB in NFL history. Corey Dillon was a far superior player to Bettis, yet he's not in.
Bettis is a classic case of a stat compiler, combined with being part of one of the most iconic NFL franchises and having a nick-name like "The Bus". The definition of over-rated.

Jerome was 250-260lbs and was shifty as hell. He was actually elusive when he was young and still was almost always out when he was in the open field
Big RBs like that usually never last and he stood the test of time..
I think he's a hall of famer..
I see what you're saying though I struggled with him for awhile
Yeah Corey Dillon was a beast. He's like a forgotten guy though. They don't even talk about him like that. Is he eligible yet?I just think that if Bettis is in, then Dillon should be as well. Dillon had TERRIBLE QB's and a horrendous OL. Only ONE time in his career did he play with a pro-bowl offensive-lineman.....just once.
One of the most mind-blowing statistics to me is that in 2000 (I believe) he had a higher ypc than his QB's had ypa..
This dude still put up a 4.6ypc and seven rushing TD's while teams KNEW he would be running the ball. And, in that season he faced the the following teams with the following defensive ranks.
Ravens (Twice) (#1 defense in ppg)
Steelers (Twice) (#7 defense in ppg)
Titans (Once) (#2 defense in ppg)
Eagles (Once) (#4 defense in ppg).
And, somehow he still managed nearly 1,500 yards that season with stacked boxes and with bum ass Scott Mitchell and Akili Smith as his QB's..
Dillon was twice the player Bettis was, despite playing behind an OL that was twice as poor, and dealing with QB's that were ten times as bad as what the Steelers had.
And, Dillon should go in as a Bengal, not a Patriot. There is literally NOTHING that Bettis was better at than Dillon outside of playing longer....
