I wasn’t wrong. I said Obama never threatened to do a recess appointment, which he didn’t. I also said it wasn’t due to the Supreme Court unanimously throwing out all of his recess appointments. All I said is Obama didn’t threaten to do it. You can say McConnell wouldn’t let him due to scheduling, but that wasn’t my point. It was a small statement in a bigger issue for the Dems.
So you're just bytching that he didn't threaten to do something that wasn't actually possible.

:francis:
My point was that Dems ain’t take the judiciary serious while the GOP were hyper focused on it since Reagan came into office. McConnell’s last act under Obama showed how serious they were. RBG was one of the culprits but she wasn’t solely to blame for the GOP take over the federal judiciary.
Folk Should have voted for Hilldawg if they cared. Lord knows she talked about it a lot. :pachaha:

Nah, you are bytching about that.

I said the Dems didn’t take the judiciary serious for nearly 40 years while the GOP had a movement going.

I can't really gauge if your 40 year statement is accurate or not but coming up with these incredible scenarios where Obama overrides everyone seems pretty unreasonable

I barely remember what Clinton up to outside of major domestic stories and foreign policy stuff... at the end of the day the country then is nearly unrecognizable to the one we live in now

BIden has taken rebuilding the courts seriously from everything I've read

One thing that really troubles me are Republican groups brining lawsuits with the purpose of undermining democracy, the environment, human rights, and etc but I'm not sure how you check that other than getting more liberal judges and or replicating the concept which I guess if all else fails is our only choice...

Nah, you were just wrong here. It's okay to admit you were wrong.

Or you could respond to when exactly Obama was able to force a recess appointment for the Scotus seat. The calendar is available online.
i'll always remember obama campaigning for hillary (or shillary) and telling folks that the supreme court was on the ballot and doing this slapping the podium 3x like a nervous tick scared out of his mind that what we're seeing now was coming. the supreme court was my #1 and truthfully probably my only priority in the 2016 elections. didn't care much about anything else. hillary could've had accusations of sexual harassment of young female interns and i wouldn't have given a fukk.

:gag: oh goodness, no.... she had email issues... i could never ever under any circumstance vote for someone with email issues.... i'd rather all my rights taken from me and me carried off to the killing fields than to vote for hillary..... :gag::gag::gag:

plus, did you know -- and this is just between you and me, so don't tell anyone -- she was a woman... !!! ugh!!!

:gag::gag::gag:

let's lose everything we've worked for to prevent a woman with email issues from ever entering the white house....

There's a constitutional amendment. Slavery ain't coming back despite Thomas and Alito's best efforts.

So? Do you think they're less motivated or more motivated in 2021?

Well Trump and Republicans more and more people are saying they love the Blacks but their actions say otherwise.

That's not to say slavery like conditions or worse can't be imposed by Republican SCOTUS.

What do you think is a best case and worse case scenario?

Heh, fair enough

I think if they repeal Roe, Griswold v Connecticut doesn't have much standing. I can see conservatives gunning for a repeal, which would then allow them to ban contraceptives that occur post fertilization, pre implantation. And Griswold is the basis for rulings concerning same-sex relations, same-sex marriage...

Barring a pack of the court, the legislative branch will have to pass some laws codifying these rights. Relying solely on an undemocratic branch of government to preserve abortion and related rights always had a ticking clock on it.

And this is something the red side has been strategizing on for decades. I forget the name of the law school that has a class solely for the purpose of developing arguments against Roe, should a challenging case ever make it to the Supreme Court. The opposition isn't interested in a fair fight, and it's naive to think they'll stop at a repeal of Roe.

That's good.

They (Obama and Hillary) should probably have done more to win over voters who had other issues than the Supreme Court. I forget, did Hillary ever make it to Wisconsin, a crucial swing state?

They didn't do enough, she lost, and that's the primary reason why we are here today.
