But you will hear some traditional D.C. slang mixed in from time to time.

To be completely honest, the origins of a lot of those slang words have been forgotten, and real old heads from around here will tell you some of that shyt came from here.

But they have always been our cousins up North, so it's all love.

Be honest with yourself though, who really uses BMore slang outside of the city and surrounding suburbs?

Facts.

I actually thought about editing my original response to BRod to include how proximity to HBCU's on the eastern seaboard also influenced the pollination of District slang.

I'm from Newport News, graduated high school and currently live in the neighboring city of Hampton.

Home of Hampton University.

That also played a big part in spreading D.C. culture and slang to this area.
