I ain't even from DC or the DMV, breh.
I'm from Southeast VA, and I can tell you for sure that DC's slang and style influences everybody from Delaware to N.C. (maybe even parts of S.C.), especially back in the 90s/00s.
Youngin, Young, Joe, Bamma, Jive, etc.
We all sprinkle that shyt in our slang.
Only reason it's not even more widespread is because there haven't been many Hip Hop artists from the District.

Dog I was stationed in Norfolk for almost 2 years and I also use to go to visit different towns from NC and SC with my homies and I NEVER heard anybody use any of that shyt who wasn't from DC...the problem with a lot of that shyt is that one word will mean about 10 DIFFERENT things

Nah Wilshire & fairfax and Hollywood & highland are two completely different animals. Hundreds of tourists everywhere, street preformers, homeless people and way more cars. Wilshire is more residential, actually easier to getaway...lots of alleys and small streets

When out of towners come here, they tend to congregate almost exclusively with other out of towners, or locals frontin like they're from somewhere else.
Everything's mixed up now, but if you was here in the 90s/early 00s, and associated with locals, there's no way you didn't hear D.C. slang sprinkled in with our local slang.
The 10 different meanings thing is accurate
But, if you're vibin with the nikka talking, you'll understand exactly how they mean it depending on the energy and inflection they give the word and the situation they use it in.
