you can't refuse a citizen to return back to their country it's their right
You can ban international travel though, thus no planes coming in but that would nuke most airlines.
Today the uk banned all of it citizens from international travel but you can't stop people from returning.
It's their right, so an american who even lives in UK can come to the us on their us passport because it's there right

But at this point the jig is up: people are actively ignoring the RECOMMENDATION to not travel
If the governments are all so serious about stopping the spread, why has non-essential travel allowed.
I saw a friend of mine post that they were in fukking Mexico for New Year’s chilling. Crossed continents. Got another friend who did 2 international trips.
Why is that allowed - it’s such a half-ass measure and it’s costing people lives.
It makes 100% sense to say “No international travel without x, y and z” if it’s not deemed essential, no travel.

This is the real and only reason that during a fukking pandemic, airlines are allowed to basicLly continue operating like they were before.
Had all travel been suspended, way less people would’ve died.
I wonder who at an international level lobbied for these decisions.. This is capitalism at its worst. I get that people want to travel.. we all do
us can easily close the borders and ban international travel but if they don't people will continue to travel. UK today barred its citizens from travelling. Canada closed the border to the us (why toronto raptors are playing in tampa and blue jays played in buffalo), Japan closed their borders to everyone so did Hong Kong
US can easily close the border to canada and Mexico (air travel and land) and allow only citizens to land (that would lead to most airlines cancelling international flights to usa)
hell right now you can land in many us cities coming abroad without a covid test
