The hip-hop police was protecting rappers. That narrative really needs to change

This is actually true.

Rappers were getting robbed and killed left and right, and NYPD would be working as security for MC's, when they were off-duty. And then they started sending them out to watch over rappers to make sure they could move around without any wild sh*t happening to them. People started making it about cops arresting rappers, but it was always about making sure people didn't do sh*t to rappers on the streets and kill other random people in the process.
