NYC has like 472 subway stations, cops can't be everywhere all the time down there...
They have been putting cameras in all the subway cars last I heard, it's NOT a live feed but it's better than nothing.
While on this topic, it's so annoying when dorks on Reddit compain about cops being on their phones while in the subway. Most criminals are smart enough to not do crimes with the cops standing right there
Do they expect the cops to be intensely watching every single person that walks by? Only "crime" that happens in front of the cops in the subway is hopping the turnstile. As some cops let farebeating slide.
On Reddit always some fakkit taking creep shots of cops playing candy crush on their phone, then post it on Reddit. I'm sure if someone radios in for their assistance they will put the phone away and respond

In order to even try to make it safer you would need a cop on damn near every car on every train AND in multiple throughout every station in NYC. That is not realistic. You make it safer by getting the mentally ill off of the streets and subways into facilities away from the public, also the ones that are not homeless but have records of violence.

I live in chicago, some nikka unprovoked shot & killed 4 people on the train about a month ago. Got caught cuz it was on camera
More police presence at stations with the most crime & undercover cops riding trains.
