all that to say she had co-workers that came from other states that shacked up with their friends to live in a fukkin 1 bedroom apartment for $3,000 solely because of the area. those new ass houses in downtown bk got these a$$holes out here sectioning off a 1 bedroom to fit 4 people, sleeping on air mattresses and futons. ill take my accessible, affordable (for nyc) studio that's big enough for both of us to live normally, no roach/rat infestations in a good neighborhood over any of that shyt any day.

How does the vast majority survive in NYC? Where does everyone live if rents are that high? I have family and friends who live in NYC and most of my family lives in Queens and pockets of Brooklyn or NJ. They've been in NY since the mid 80s though. A couple of my buddies from college live in LES but these guys make over 100K a year so I know they're okay but what about the millions who make less than 50K? Cost of living is high as hell in my city too but these rent prices in NY are astronomical and they'll never go down. I've considered moving to NYC for a few years for work and to experience life in New York but I really can't see myself paying $3,000 a month for a small azz unit with no amenities in a sh1tty neighborhood.

ALOT of people are living in rent controlled, subsidized, have roommates or are making deals with landlords at least in the outer boroughs. Most people I know in the BX/Harlem pay under $700 dollars in rent because of those things I only know a handful of folks paying more than that. But it depends way too heavily on luck in my opinion, and if you are a out of towner chances of hooking up with a landlord willing to give you a deal is slim. If a couple is thinking about having kids in NYC and they are making less than 100k/yr combined it makes no sense to live out here imo.

ove NY but that 1 room (studio) life ain't it for me.

I visited a friend who had his shower in the kitchen, lol. It was Harlem but that 1 room life gotta suck man, especially if you used to houses and things like that. I got a wifey but that's too much of her. It's days I don't wanna see anyone.

My mortgage in the city of Atlanta was $1070 a month for a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom with a nice ass back yard and deck plus I was 10 minutes-if that, from downtown.

So I have that and I visit my homies in NY and Philly and LA and Miami etc often. Mainly because I can afford to travel alot because I'm not not breaking my neck on living expenses every month.

Is Eastern Brooklyn considered grimey? When I was there, it seemed like a pretty chill neighborhood. A few projects here and there but the whole area didn't look grimey or unsafe. I assume it is not a sought after place to live? I know the rents are lower in this area.

I don't know too much about Eastern Brooklyn, but Eastern Queens(Jamaica; Rochdale) and Bronx(particularly near White Plains Road) ain't too bad.

Harlem is gentrified. Most of Northwest BK is gentrified. Most of Queens 3-4 train stops out of Manhattan is gentrified. South BX will stay how it is until they convert public housing.

Living in NYC is still doable. But owning property? That ship sailed some time around 2010. I had to leave

Honestly most people I know that live in manhattan be shacked up deep like Mexicans. $3000 a month ain't that bad when you splitting it with 6 other roommates.

Atlanta is prolly still the best most affordable city in the US. Best of both worlds.

Atlanta and all the major cities in Texas ( Houston, Dallas, Austin, SA) are the best deals cause it's so much space that the housing prices will never get outrages.

I keep hearing Nashvile and Charlotte are on the come up too.

Broski, I'm in the carolina's right now. This man is NOT lying. I tell my NY heads all the time. A bad chick from the northeast is like a 7 when you get to DC on down.

And Charlotte chicks are a C compared to the joints in Atlanta.

But its only like a 3hr trip between the two so...... :datazz:
