NYC Gentrification Watch

This is certainly a disgusting practice that needs to be dealt with immediately.
However, we have to be very careful calling this a strictly racial issue. It is and it isn’t. What’s definitely racist is that the city and developers have such little regard for black home owners that they’re not even bothering going through the formalities of taking their property legally. With other demos, they’ll at least give them the courtesy of doing it through legal means (eminent domain).
But in the grander scheme of things, racism isn’t the end goal of gentrification. The end goal is to hand NYC completely over to affluent out of towners, upper middle class transplants who just got off the Greyhound Bus from the West Coast and Flyover Country, and super rich foreigners (Russian oligarchs, Chinese real estate moguls, rich jet setters). They want anyone who isn’t an actual native New Yorker (or honorary New Yorker) out and only transplants and foreigners living here.
Why? DeBlasio and Company are neoliberals/globalists like Donald Trump and so many others who are in power. People like this have no loyalties whatsoever to their own. Their philosophy is to the highest bidder, so if that means selling out their own city, state and even country to outsiders, then so be it. Stupid transplants are willing to pay $2000 a month to live in crappy micro apartments that are smaller than the average dorm room. Chinese and Russian oligarchs and businessmen are willing to spend billions of dollars in real estate to park their assets and launder money. Rich jerks who don’t live here at all are also willing to buy multi-million dollar penthouses so they can spend three days a year in them. Tourists are willing to spend $20 for a hot dog and some soda.
They are worth more; we are worth less, and so DeBlasio and Company are giving us (natives and honorary New Yorkers alike) the big heave ho.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that we have to not just decry this as racism. It’s racism but it’s also part of something larger. DeBlasio and Company want to displace all working and middle class New Yorkers (except the affluent ones like them, of course) and have NYC be nothing but deserted luxury high rises, gawking tourists and Chads, Biffs, Skylers and Buffys straight out of Seattle who have nothing in common with NYC life and if anything, want to see it turned into a suburban strip mall
