I remember when you could really tell who was from what borough based on how they dressed, I went to High School In Manhattan my first 2 years and the uptown cats had on marmot, nautica, nike shox, you almost never saw that in Brooklyn. Was it like that in the 80's and 90's too?

Of course we were clean, NYC was the only place where you can get those clothes easily, specifically the village areas like soho. Delancey street as well

That picture is 1981, btw. There was no such thing as hip hop clothing, just NYC young black American dress style. Puerto ricans who was down dressed like that too, along with some West Indians, but they had their own style, especially in the 90s.

By the early 90's black Americans, and West Indians, dressed alike sometimes, especially them damage Jean suits. Them corduroy shorts, and wife beaters with holes in them just stayed to them. Lol

As a southern breh, Black NY is the capital of drip
You mean used to be, the style ain't there no more

Back then we put outfits together that didn't belong together, or just added or changed what we already had

Now, people just rock stuff that is name brand, but look regular as he'll, I don't really see stylish people anywhere, not just nyc
