I think there were too many environmental hurdles they'd have to go through for this. It was gonna take decades and hella money just to get approved.

That fukking ice rink is taking prime property, all that shyt built up in "uptown" and old Oakland and those areas are dead every night outside of first Friday's and the weekend. Building an arena down there would've helped to foster weekday nightlife in Oakland. The estuary along embarcadero (Brooklyn basin anyone) and some of the old shipping yards in west Oakland could've hosted a new arena.

Did the city of Oakland not want to sale GSW land?

The shipping yards in the West are owned by the Port of Oakland and they won't give that real estate up. As far as putting it Downtown where the rink is, I have no quarrel with that, but from a financial standpoint it makes more sense to put it in SF since they don't have an arena like that. If you put it in Oakland you would rival Oracle as far as having concerts and events. Keep in mind, they're going to have big concerts there. I want them to stay put myself. Nothing wrong with Oracle imo.

You don't consider Embarcadero as accessible? Literally all PT runs through there..
i can't tell how far down embarcadero it is, but it looks like its near dogpatch? that's not the same as the embarcadero near the bridge, or even att and pier 39 - BART stops RIGHT in front of the coliseusm

nope, you build the aren downtown, then implode oracle, build a field for the A's and rehab the o.co for the raiders - all the teams get a new stadium. takes coordination and compromise...but clearly losing all 3 teams is more of a priority. :shaq2:

edit: along mandela to maritimes heading up to emervilly-..lots of closed up factories...but like you said, they want to be in SF

The city can't just implode Oracle to keep the Warriors. They wouldn't even if it was an option. They make money off Oracle and will without the Warriors, the Chase Center is privately financed which means the City Of Oakland won't make money off it besides property tax. It would make more sense to blow up Oracle and build a new Arena there if they was going to do that. Downtown Oakland isn't popping at all. I damn sure wouldn't pump a billion into a Downtown Oakland Arena.

Oh I get the process of how stadiums and arenas are payed for ...but if cinci can foot the bill for new NFL and MLB stadiums through sales tax revenue in the same year...I KNOW OAK AND SAN. FRAN can do it...guess it depends on the type of arena wanted(ya'll fancy). Still, if I were the owner I would seek a diff. sponsor ...like a retail giant ala the target center.
No city should foot the bill for a professional sports team.

Giants games are live as fukk, so I doubt the crowds will be that much different from Oracle to the new arena.

Yeah it looks like it's near the hospital. I can see att in the background.

Better than traffic in the east bay is a benefit :ehh:

I used to grow up going to Lakers games at the forum and the crowd was crazy and fans beating up Celtics and suns fans

shyt move to staples and its like:russell: and people walking around taking selfies all around the arena

San Francisco will be nothing but tech driven with .com all over the arena and probably a bunch of tech related gadgets

I don't even think san Francisco has any real natives left anyway

It'll turn into a scene thing. I think everyone on the east bay gets that. The owners ain't from here so I don't think they feel like it'll matter, but all of those folks in the hills and through the tunnel ain't going to the city for a game. Crossing the bridge ain't worth the effort.

it's a damn shame how frisco dollars and oakland dollars are world's apart

the A's and Raiders playing in san quentin east and both have worthless owners , but the warriors should stay in oakland or somewhere around the area

Mark Davis could easily next season play at Cal until he can find a bay area billionaire investors willing to buy the team and put up at $400 million for a stadium

buying the raiders now is a gold mine with the young talent coming in.....
