Irrelevant point: I made no claim regarding how X term is define in Europe, and the results of said claim has zero relation to the truth value on which spectrum does most of the mainstream media outlet sway to, or the likelihood of the leftist media reporting terrorist acts done by white males -- or, as they define it, white right wing extremist -- when it occurs.
First, not an argument
Second, who is this even aimed at? Are you even responding to me at this point, or are you projecting your imagined generic enemy's arguments onto me...because I have no idea how you could possible be able presume what sort of rational I used for my earlier claim, since I didn't explicitly make it clear. I guess you're a mind reader or something!
Okay, I guess you finally address my point here...
First, this not an argument. All you presented was an assertion, there is no evidence of any sort backing it up, unless you expect me to take your word for it. Also, you didn't even attempt to explain how generic panel debates is thee determinate variable for concluding were the mainstream media falls on the political spectrum.
Look, this is an example of a properly formatted argument -
Claim: mainstream media leans left
Premise: If majority of mainstream media outlets express leftist views, than majority of the mainstream media leans left.
Evidence:
Left Turn: How Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind: Tim Groseclose and Jeff Milyo estimate how left-wing or right-wing media outlets are based on what research by think tanks they mention in their stories. They then compare that to the think-tank research that elected officials cite when they talk on the House or Senate floor, to calibrate where the media fits relative to the Congress. They find some interesting answers: most of the media does have a liberal bias (throwing out the editorial page, the
Wall Street Journal is the most liberal of all, even beating the
New York Times!). Fox News is one of the few outlets that is right of center.
Now, you may not agree with soundness of it, but the conclusion follows the premise, and there is information cited backing up the validity of the logic of the premise. I hope this has been informative for you, the coli is extremely poor when it comes to formulating an argument and identifying an argument, and that needs to change.
