Because bioshock infinite just proved you can have a engrossing AAA story within the medium and boundaries of interactive agency, not despite it.

Can't go back to that scripted crap for pretty graphics and better mo-cap. If I wanted to watch a movie, id buy a blu-ray.

You obviously didn't see the two demos for The last of Us where they played the exact same demo in two totally different ways completely making the game look different. The first one at E3 where they ended with the dude getting his face blasted with the shotty was completely avoided on the second demo. The second demo had different enemies, different fights and different routes. If you only seen the first demo then I could see why you think the game is scripted most of the time.

I don't get these self entitled gamers who expect every game to play out like Skyrim or Mass Effect.

I have seen the demos. This 'raycasting' nonsense is just smoke and mirrors for having a bunch of context senstive actions. QTES without a button prompt. Joining a bunch of scripted events together doesnt change the fact that they are still scripted events. While they may seem a better solution than uncharteds approach, it still boils down to developer wrestling control from the player to tell a story rather than encouraging player agency.

I do believe that in term of interactivity, the last of us will be a better game than uncharted, but it still looks like a movie masquerading as a video game and will be be once a bad one simply because of that focus in design.

I don't get these platform fanboys that believe the hottest shyt on their platform of choice is beyond reproach. How you could read my words and think I want every game to play like an rpg is beyond me and honest is just a fcukin stupid counter point
