Good luck renting a car or reserving a hotel room and building up credit in case you need to get a car loan or a mortgage.

I feel everyone should have at least one credit card.. just have self control and use it properly. Its like a gun, its not gonna shoot all by itself.

:rudy:

Did you not read that i have great credit? The biggest myth is that you need credit card debt to have good credit. I get the lowest interest rates on car notes possible.

Saving doesn't create wealth. Especially not with the salaries you gonna find in the communities you are referring to. An iPhone or a pair of Jordans isnt gonna hurt whats already been damaged from the get go. :yeshrug:

what a stupid ass method of thinking.

People with a certain income don't save because there's no reason too. Think about it, you talmbout saving $50 to $100 a month just to have $1000 in the bank and then what? That's not life changing money and whatever you gonna do with $1000 you probably coulda done with the smaller amounts anyway, ie spend it on goods and services. So you might as well get ya shop on :manny:

the problem with people like you is that you don't value money...and people who don't value money are usually broke and end up waiting for hand outs from those who do.

I saw that you said you have a great credit.. good for you. I have a great scores from all three bureaus as well. And I said it helps to have a credit card, not credit card debt. those are two different things. just because you have a credit card doesn't mean you have to credit card debt. Its all up to the user. I don't use my debit card anymore, I used my cash back rewards cc instead but the thing is I pay the entire balance off on my cc bill at the end of every month.

CACS bring stuff like that up because sadly, it's true. When you have 200 dollar kicks on, an ipad, always keep a fresh cut or always got your hair and nails done, but can't make the rent something is not right. That's not coded anything, that's common sense. It doesn't mean that people who don't make that much money should live like paupers but at some point you need to start pointing out absurdities.

First off you dont know shyt about me or my finances so miss me with that. Now lets start over....where do you have a problem with what i said? Where im coming from is, if you are in the unfortunate position of having less than 1,000 bucks in your account, then you most likely a) dont have a job....or b) have a shytty job. No amount of saving is going to help you escape from your predicament. Not in this society and economy. Like another poster said, your car has a problem, and you are up shyts creek without a paddle. There goes that little savings you tried to build up. I also clarified and said having a savings is common sense....but acting like buying a consumer item in America is stupid is a retarded method of thinking. You bring up handouts...i have no idea why, but you did. Anyone with that amount of money is going to need assistance of some sort be it in the form of a loan or grant to get a better education and job, so they can get a salary where saving is much more effective. All people in the hood dont use handouts to buy Jordans and electronics...if that is what you were alluding to.

Now you just bringing up stereo types. I see where you coming from b :leostare:

Where in this thread did anyone bring up anything about people not being able to pay their bills? Im pretty sure its possible to pay bills and live paycheck to paycheck, which would cause you to have under 1,000 in the account.

:what: listen to yourself....you saying it makes no sense to save money but even using your own example if that person never saved money they wouldn't have money to fix their car. Then what?

And no not everyone in the hood is depending on handouts to bolster their lifestyles, but guess what? Those people who aren't are the ones most likely to make it out the hood, because they know how to prioritize and spend wisely. But the flip-side of that....1st of the month Jamaica avenue bruh, 4 nail salons on one block and these koreans are getting rich because they are all packed. It's a disgusting sight.

"nikkas was working for a pair of jordans, next 2 weeks they was broke again"

It makes it harder to live paycheck to paycheck and pay bills when you are also buying things you can't afford. And you're right, it isn't just the hood that has this problem it's america in general, but since this is a hip-hop site more people can relate to what they see in the hood every day.

The point is that living within ones reasonable means makes it easier to SAVE MONEY on a meager salary....but you are in here saying it makes no sense to even try and save if you aren't making x amount of dollars per year. I'm sorry, but that's just stupid.

OK, so making a minimum wage of 7.25 an hour, plus bills, plus a car that will need maintenance...this is real life. How much money can you realistically save in that situation? Thats all im saying breh. Even if you do manage to pull off a couple hundred at the end of the year, my original point was that buying yourself something nice wont all of a sudden put you in the soup lines. You were already there! Its gonna take more than saving your little pocket piece every month to better your situation. Is that not reasonable?
