The sun APPEARS to set earlier while you are at the bottom of the tower because if your PERSPECTIVE and because MORE OBJECTS ARE BLOCKING YOUR VIEW WHEN YOU ARE LOWER TO THE GROUND

You can naturally see further the higher your elevation because there are less objects obstructing your view. Which is the same reason why you THINK that seeing the sun for longer while up in a tower is due to curvature. You're actually just seeing MORE sunlight when it nears the horizon because you are at a higher elevation
