Track is classic Quik, but damn the album overall was weak :snoop: and this coming from the biggest Quik stan on this website

Truth. Quik is my favorite out of the OGs, I'm a huge fan. In fact, he's the person who made me delve deeper into other genres of music because of his versatility.

With that said, I can easily admit that his last album wasn't too good. This song was the highlight, perfect production, dope lyrics and flows. The rest of the album had some dope cuts, two wack ones, and a few fillers. He still has it in him, he just shouldn't dumb his shyt down to sound current. Dude's a legend, he doesn't need to sound like these new cats.

When Quik tries to sound current with what he thinks is "in" with his beats it almost always bad, some beats on the album weren't even produced by him

This is from the last album . . but it's a dope music video

Given the subject matter and the fact that he sampled, I can believe this was left off book of david.

I disagree with you, I thought quik actually pulled off modernizing his sound while still being him (save the track with mac 10, shyt is meh) on this album.
Yes, he's got other producers and input from his son on it, but it worked this time...

Blakqout IMO is a prime example of this. Fandango off trauma is too. I feel he did well on this album.

Very true. He's at his best when he's on that Jazzy, mellow West Coast music.:ahh:

Or when he experiments with Rock, R&B and Funk, and even mixes the three together like he did with We Still Party.:blessed:

shyt, if it ain't broke....:ld:

IMO he's pulled it off before, but it usually sounds forced. For example, "Back That shyt Up" off of Midnight Life is more modern sounding, but I think he pulled it off well. But "That Getter", "Shine", and even "Fandago" to me sound forced.

The only wack songs on his latest joint were the songs with his seed. This album was just as good as The Book of David and better than Under The Influence. Dude makes great albums so he has a lot to live up to every album.
