All I know is........ this Indian guy today.. came in this bytch w his head held high.. as fukk. IT was ridiculous.. He was light as shyt, damn near a crakker. on friday the dark skinned dude basically was a failure at life. They only been here like 3 years... but I think their caste or locations might have something to do w the fact that ........

the ligher ones come w more confidence.

But the caste might have something to do w it, cuz there is 1 darker lady + she's fat, but her fam is rich as fukk, she was educated in England and all this shyt- she doesn't even act like the darker ones because of her caste. Bish like "well (my real name) in my caste we eat this n this, we have this and that" Talking all this shyt trying to distinguish herself, cuz in IT people are racist as shyt towards Indians more than any other group.... even black people.

I don't know why but the bolded got me :laff:

What did she say her caste was? anyway, skin tone has little to do with caste breh, ask those other dark indians you work what caste they are, you may be surprised. A lot of these Brahmins be out here looking like Michael Vick.

:yeshrug: I don't know much about society here but I will tell you 100% the association of fair skin with good looks is definitely not because of bollywood, it's deep and widespread

I believe it is due to a combination of light skinned (muslim) and then white (british) rule in India that made it endemic. Prior to that, I wouldn't necessarily equate "caste conscious" with "color conscious." Indians knew what color they were, they weren't stupid. They seem to be stupid now though.

Even in the Hindu scriptures many personalities like the Gods and sages that are revered were known to be dark skinned. Krishna was "black" while still being defined as the "all attractive" - Vishnu is always described as being dark colored in all his avatars...somewhere down the line he started to be depicted as blue :childplease: and the other Gods started to get lighter and lighter....couple that with the fact that the British created this whole Aryan-Dravidian division garbage which gave birth to epic levels of Indian c00ning :snoop:

damn shame.

WTF? @BarNone changed the title????

I was just providing clarification to @Kool G Trap's thread title as part of the new coli clarification initiative :mjpls:

In all seriousness though, it's sad to see but you wonder to what extent this is representative of what most people think. I know some people who know her (both through Michigan and NY), and she seems like a cool girl.

Its a global phenomenon. Yeah the hindi film industry is controlled by northerners but this same trend towards light skin as beautiful is something that is not limited to india. Koreans, islanders all over the world and even celebs here in america do that shyt. Im more inclined to attribute it to vestiges of feudalism over something like emergent film industries...

whats your take @zerozero
It doesn't need to be expanded much further than that really because it's been brainwashed into people so long across generations it's hard to figure out where it began at this point. There just needs to be an effort to combat it. There is nothing India specific about this (neither is the fact that she went to Michigan....we global :jawalrus), it's a worldwide epidemic. Saw my younger cousin (who is not even dark-skinned) with those bleaching creams last year, I was :wow:...I failed.

Its all bullshyt basically. Im a mix of various indian ethnicities and higher castes and am about the same skin tone as a Nas so... I admit that the darkest skinned indians get treated like shyt even over here no matter their caste. I know some dark as fukk brahmins, wesley snipes tone and they get paid dust by the religious community im a part of. shyt is lame as fukk. I made a speech last year on the divisiveness of skin tone distinction and those dudes dont let me have the mic anymore :russ::manny:
smh...
