I’m not talking about what could’ve happened. What DID happen is they helped him immensely. Kendrick met Cole tryna slime him for the XXL Freshman slot. Cole met him and they chopped it up and he introduced him to a bunch of people. Produced for him. Collabed with him. All that. Kendrick was a nobody then. Cole was the first artist on Roc Nation. He was already up. Drake same shyt. Like I said before. Anyone trying to dismiss the biggest rapper in the game taking a nikka on tour. Giving him a solo song on his biggest album up until that point. And featuring on his leading single is either a covert narcissist or a dikkrider. If I ever see a nikka who received helped say “oh I didn’t ask u to help me..” lets me know they ain’t shyt as a person. Like I said. U can speak about what Kendrick would’ve and could’ve done but I’m speaking about what he DID do. And what DID happen. All that other shyt is irrelevant. U can hate Drake and also admit to how much these nikkas helped Kendrick. It’s dishonest af to say anything otherwise. Drake did shyt for Kendrick a lot of artists wouldn’t do for their own artists. Kanye ain’t even do that for Big Sean for instance. And the crazy shyt is. U nikkas try to dismiss it when KENDRICK HIMSELF is on video admitting this.
If you look at how Kanye hoed Big Sean, then people can’t ignore what Drake did for DOZENS of artists.

7 minute drill is one of the worst rap songs ro drop in a long time, i never considered Cole a good rapper, but this right here was shocking lol
its the equivalent of an open book test vs a standardized test :francis:

All that shadow boxing lands different when you’re facing a different mission...

Sure. It's a "dope" verse. But when eminem does this same exact shyt everyone calls it corny. This all technical shyt. All high level rhymers can do this shyt in their sleep. Cole is just trying to squeeze as many rhyming words and syllables as he possibly can into every bar. It sounds great to the ear but he's not saying anything of substance. Which is why Cole stans always focus more on his "rhyme schemes" than the actual content of his lyrics.

My hands are full with grands I pulled
From stanzas, no, I can't go slow
I'm Sandra Bull, either proceed with speed or don't breathe
There's no creed or color that won't heed
To the warning, the planet'll shake when I'm performing

Like yea. Ok. You're so good that people are cautious of you and you literally shake the world when you rap. Great stuff there Cole :beli: .....9 out of 10 Cole verses is him telling us how well he can rap over and over. I'm not impressed. Give us some substance.
This is why I’ve long said I think people underrate Drake’s talent.
Drake can say the same thing with like 30-40% fewer words. Drake is EFFICIENT with his language and message.

BUT…Drake doesn’t dedicate his craft to enlightening or educating or speaking about meta-topics so people think he’s just a shallow vapid idiot.

I know this for a fact because I’ve been listening to Drake since Comeback Season…:francis:

Let’s be honest Like That verse from Dot wasn’t disrespectful enough for Cole to even respond. Let alone respond first.

7 min drill wasn’t even a diss. It was way more of a warning shot. Someone saying “this is merely a warning shot” and comparing another artist history is n the game trajectory with yours isn’t a diss. It’s far from disrespectful. Only Dot Stans took that as disrespectful. Clutching their pearls at the thought of someone calling TPAB boring even though there is a sector of fans who felt like that. Ish on JB Pod for example.

Cole didn’t like the chatter 7 min drill cause “downing his catalog”. He himself admitted he didn’t feel no way about that “Like That”

He also never apologized for the record. Never said “I’m sorry”or “I apologize”

Look. I gotta take time to read and dissect this. Cause it’s a lot. But from what I saw I write. Number one. Section 80 wasn’t a mixtape it was an album. They switched the marketing for what it was once GKMC dropped. Number 2. It’s not about what u do. It’s how u do it. And son has a history of moving funny. Word to Big Sean. I feel like ur speaking out both sides of ur face right now. But like I said. Imma read and dissect this post in depth when I have time to.
Big Sean disappointed the fukk outta me. Maybe its cause he lives in LA….but Sean got HOED by Kendrick and ain’t do shyt.

Thats why Drake had to attempt to stand up to Kendrick… Kendrick was firing off on everyone but no one wanted that smoke.

He called him fake woke(which is true). Said nikkas overrate his catalog(which is true). Said son was hating on the attention he was getting(also true). Cole actually felt that way. nikkas think these rappers don’t see the chatter. Cole was seeing people disrespect him in favor of Kendrick for years. Kendrick saw the narrative starting to switch in favor of Cole. Cole peeped how Kendrick moves as well. He also peeped son’s ego. He was asked to be on First Person Shooter. Declined and then got mad that they didn’t dikkride him on the joint and was bigging themselves up. Tried to turn around and tell the public that they dissed him when in reality they didn’t even diss him on that joint. lol. Then has the nerve to call Drake a master manipulator. shyt funny af. lol.

Drake was throwing shots at Kendrick on Honestly Nevermind. He threw shots at Kendrick live on stage when announcing For All The Dogs. He threw shots at Kendrick on songs off that album that weren’t First Person Shooter.

Lets not act like Drake was minding his own business and not stoking the fires.

He said it himself on Push Ups “That song did NOT start the beef with us/ this shyt brewing in a pot now i’m heating it up”.

Also anyone who acts like Drake is the only one who felt a way about the Control verse is flat out lying. Plenty of rappers felt a way. Meek responded. Fab was gonna hit the studio and respond. But the issue was that everyone that tried to respond was shamed for it while at the same time Kendrick was being competitive. Cam had to call the Breakfast Club out for that shyt right to they face. Even breaking down how much of a Nas fan he was but he was still willing to compete with him when he said his name.

The problem isn’t the verses. I don’t mind those type of verses every now and then. I grew up on them. But when they become your whole identity then it becomes an issue. It's like every Cole verse his only purpose of rapping is to remind us how good he is at rapping. Yea ok man we get it. You're a good rapper. That's great. Now give us something with actual meaning. Like I said. J Cole is a black Eminem at this point.

I never said he was minding his own business. He let his feelings be known about Kendrick when the Control verse dropped. He wasn’t the ONLY one who felt a way about that either. But everyone who did got attacked for it. This nikka Kendrick has like unlimited plot armor.

One thing I’ll always give Drake credit he mastered saying less with more. He’s very skilled at condensing & getting straight to the point with clever bars.

Something that Kendrick utilized GNX to showcase & will probably use his next album to display his improved pen. His 3rd verse from TV Off is probably the best example.

Another 3.75-4 mic song from Cole. The issue is that none of his recent work goes beyond that.

For a dude who keeps claiming he's in his prime, the overall music isn't reflecting much to brag about. It's pretty much always a somber beat, average hook and nice rhymes, which is good for a listen or two. Nothing more. That's always been my issue with him. It's like dude truly has zero classic/amazing Hip Hop songs under his belt. Just a bunch of decent/good ones. Can he rap? Yeah... we already know that.

I like him as an artist but something is clearly lacking. Maybe his next LP will prove me wrong.
