The official trailer is now online for “Divergent,” the big-screen adaptation of author Veronica Roth’s popular YA book, which is the first installment of her bestselling trilogy.

The film stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Zoe Kravitz, Ray Stevenson, and Ashley Judd.

“Divergent” is a thrilling action-adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late. “Divergent” is based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.

Neil Burger directed the film from a screenplay by Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor.

“Divergent” opens nationwide on March 21, 2014.

Have a look at the teaser trailer below and let us know what you think.

Divergent Sequel to Begin Shooting in May
Still no director set for Insurgent.

by Max Nicholson FEBRUARY 4, 2014

Insurgent, the franchise sequel to Lionsgate's Divergent, will launch into production this May, just two months after the release of the first movie on March 21.

Last week, the studio announced that Akiva Goldsman would be coming in to work on the Insurgent script after Brian Duffield completed the first draft. Meanwhile, Variety reports that a new director has yet to be selected, following the news in December that Divergent director Neil Burger would not be returning to helm the sequel.

As of right now, Insurgent is still on track to meet its targeted March 20, 2015 release, with the third installment, Allegiant, slated for March 18, 2016.

Based on the YA book series by Veronica Roth, Divergent stars Shailene Woodley as Beatrice Prior, who lives in a dystopian society divided into five factions. All 16-year-olds are required on a particular day to pick the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives.

:ohhh: Summit/Lionsgate must really be confident to already greenlit this a for Trilogy. I usually go out my way to watch movies based on Young Adult Sci-Fi/Supernatural/Fantasy novels, so I'm in.

Its weird how they are just churning out these tween baiting movies in succession.I mean there was a time they would've at least waited for hunger games to finish get fans thirsty and then hit em with this. But they are already putting this shyt into production even greenlighting a fukin trilogy before the first one is even released..Recipe for disaster :yeshrug:

The book is trash.
the first and second books are straight. the third book i made it like half way through and have still yet to finish but it was garbage. the problem is the third book is so seemingly disconnected from the events of the first and second book that it's just blah.

yeah That City of Bones movie flopped and that was a really good book. I still haven't seen the movie but the first trilogy is dope.

next up Vampire Academy of which the books are probably about the best of that style. honestly Vampire Academy and its spinoff series Bloodlines are what Twilight should have been.

Divergent is a ripoff of Hunger Games in the way that Twilight is a ripoff of True Blood, Buffy, Vampire Diaries or any Anne Rice novel.

Do you realize how much money Twilight, Hunger Games and Harry Potter made? Summit Entertainment is good for the next 10 years off of Twilight. Lionsgate almost made a billion dollars of Catching Fire. Harry Potter goes without saying. All these other studios gonna keep on buying the rights to these YA books hoping they can get the next one.

You have a 95% likelihood of dying by joining Dauntless. Jumping off buildings and moving trains :camby: I'd been in Candor being brutally blunt to muthafukkas and not having to feel bad about it :childplease:
