Had the original on repeat throughout Friday and when it came to Sunday I just had to get my hands on it nd flip it. Finished it on the same day pretty much which is a rarity for me, everything just flowed well though. Just tweaked and added the last bits today, let me know what yall think, critique much appreciated :feedme:

It sounds good. You had some different sequences in there so either the og song is that dope to where there is a lot to choose from or you just have a good ear and selected some quality pieces. Regardless it does have a nice vibe. The drums are nice but maybe too stiff I think if a live drummer played your pattern it would be dope maybe adjusting the swing would liven the feel because the track is jazzy.

The horn plays to consistently throughout the mix its cool for a little while, but when you expect the beat to change the horn comes in and makes it to repetitive. Its pretty good though, mixing could use a bit more adjusting. Also the horn sound could use a bit more layering so it sounds more heavy. That may help it sound less simple which it what I think is the problem. Drums could use more layering as well. A bit of reverb may help to bring them out better.

I don't understand the complaining on here. This sounds great the way it is!

I like the sounds you used for the drums, goes very well with the sample.
I think i would add a little shaker on top of the beat through out. Maybe use 2 shakers with different velocity but it's already dope the way it is.

I hear what ur saying about the drums man, I need to learn how to add a little swing to the drums. Tbh I've never done it before but I understand all it is, is to take ur drums out of time very slightly?

I felt like layering the horn would have overpowered the sound over the track but I hear you. I usually add reverb to my snares and what not but I didn't want the track to sound too airy... Wanted that live feel to the drums a little

Props man! The thought actually crossed my mind to add shakers to the drums at the beginning of making the beat but after finishing the snares I jus moved on. Might tweak it a little more with this and see where I can take it dynamically

If you're on FL there's a swing slider in the top right of the sample window (the menu that shows all your samples/sounds)

damn that's a sick flip.. bro lemme get that sample and do a flip off

only critique is that hte mix needs a little work it think. it's a little shrill in some frequencies. harsh.... meaning if i turn it up loud its kinda piercing, but when i turn it down where it's not so potent, it's not the volume i like lol. i think a slightly easier master, or some verb to ease the slap of that snare around 5k

DOPE BEAT...

I was able to play it through...However, I want to hear the original to really know if you knew what you were doing and being creative or just poaching on a really really good original composition...

Either way, the beat is DOPE...Nothing needs to be changed...Everything sounds perfect...An introspective rapper with an ill pen and delivery could make this a CLASSIC...

I hear that bro, I was fukking around with the snare levels for a long time, it'll sound mad loud on my headphones, then I'll play it on my system in the whip and it won't sound loud enuff lol. I know what ur saying tho, like the guitar strum is a little loud.

I'll post up the sample too

Much appreciated man! I'll say the sample was easy to work with but I still had to fukk around with parts to make it work how I wanted it to, here's it is anyway

Just looped the first bars and works around that, added some chops with the horn to give it some hype. The way I got the vocals to work was to chop the last part before the main vocal interrupts and hit the pads fast, add a reverb and it sounds like they holding that note longer.
