You guys use this "ruining his legacy" thing way too much. How many concrete examples do you have of a musical legend being forgotten because ALL of their music wasn't great?
Prince was a great recording artist for 10-12 years. BUT, he put out mediocre to wack records out for 20 PLUS years after that. In the end, people aren't going to talk about the stuff they didn't like. They will talk about you in your prime. Then they may talk about what they consider to be your most underrated works. So this "ruining your legacy" talk is just bullshyt rhetoric until you can prove otherwise. R. Kelly being a scumbag hasn't stopped most people from enjoying his music.
If you're in the passenger seat of your homeboy's car and he starts bumping joints from the "Public Enemy No. 1" mixtape,
WHAT ARE GOING TO DO?
Are you going to tell him "Well I used think this was a classic, but now I can't listen to it anymore because I feel like Beans has ruined his legacy"?
