I read it was better to have a separate modem and router, so is something happens it is easier to find out which one is giving you the problem. I bought whatever modem they had at Sam's Club and took the other one back to Spectrum, I haven't had a problem out of the modem since, it was always the router. Now I have a Nighthawk router and it seems to be ok. I hate Spectrum, and wouldn't give them a penny more than I have to.
