The limiting factor isn't the availability of 4K content. There could be 4K content coming out the wood work, the problem is ISPs and the price of 4K TVs, neither of which seem to be improving in a year or two.

:comeon:

you guys are so stupid when it comes to technology....ya'll nikkas use all these products yet you continue to doubt the exponential trends

4K TV's are dropping in price....by 2015 you should be able to buy one for ~$3k

that should make it mainstream price-wise and also don't forget that google fiber-esque providers will more more widespread as well

I won't be the least bit surprised if in 2015 having a 4K TV and 1gb/s broadband speed is equivalent to having a HD TV and 10mb/s broadband speed is today.

I swear to God you come with the most off the wall, nonsensical, unrealistic expectations for technology I've ever seen in my life. Consistently. In every thread. I bet you watched "The Matrix" trilogy and thought it was a documentary.

Even if what you're saying is true, the average person ain't paying $3000 for a TV. Ever. Key word average. Meaning, enough to make what you're saying the norm. Let alone specifically to cater to something niche like 4K.

nikka, 15 years ago I was going to blockbuster renting Space Jam on VHS. Now I can download HD streams of any movie ever at broadband speeds. If there is one thing I don't doubt its technology. Usually what we consider absurd and impossible becomes routine and normal in less than 5 years.

Matrix-like VR should be possible by 2030 BTW.

This!!!! Plus a good 4KTV will NEVER be affordable for the average person. Because 4K resolution is a format that belongs only in movie theaters, so that means you'll have to have a ridiculous size TV that the average person would never buy. Like I said, most movie theaters and even Digital IMAX theaters still project in 2K, forgodsake, but we talking about bringing 4K to the home consumer. shyt is laughable.

5 years ago it was laughable to have a mobile device with a 1080p display that could stream live video in HD.......yet now its mainstream.....technology moves faster than you'd expect

4k is for home theaters. They are making the content available so that people with HTs will feel the need to upgrade their equipment

You do realize you need to have a screen in the 40-inch range or up, to fully appreciate a good 1080p image? So, being able to watch 1080p content on a phone or tablet is just a novelty. That shyt don't matter.

:comeon: my point was that technology moves faster than you expect......most of what we have right now would be considered magic as little as 5 years ago......in the next 5 years we'll have products which we use everyday that would look impossible to us today

its just the way technology works.....what was impossible yesterday becomes mundane and routine tomorrow
