I just looked up the sales for Sweat and Suit and GODDAMN if Nelly wasn't a fuking juggernaut in his day I always knew he was popular but that muthafukka had the game on LOCK.

what were the numbers breh? if he had a good deal and a solid team nellys whole family should be set

Both albums sold 300K plus their first week. He is the second artist in history to have the number 1 and number 2 slot for albums in one week. Suit went Triple Platinum and Sweat went 1.5 Plat.

as he settled for the rnb collab sales model..instead of the top pop draw model artist he was before.
anytime you did that back in the day.
you ruined yourself from a diamond sales template.
to a barely two times plat slow burn sales model in general model.

Feels like this album was his last hoorah. It didn’t do nearly as well as his prior efforts and he was never that big star again after this one.

At one point, he was neck and neck with Em and Jay as far as relevant. Hov even said so. That’s why it’s always impressive to me that Em and Hov still doing numbers. They rare air.

Never heard suit but sweat was a good album. Used to hear it in the clubs down in Columbia SC back in the day
