So this article was right about NCsoft and Shift-Up. Sony is also apparently discussing for a partnership with Pearl Abyss and Neowiz.

Crimson Desert and Lies of P developers, sony going hard in Korea this gen :ohhh:
Korea has to diversify its economy. The Chaebol are the ones running the country. If Samsung runs into trouble the government HAS to bail them out. I would imagine having your whole economy depend on a handful of private companies that can do whatever they want is not a position anyone would really want to be in as a politician. If you refuse to bail them out and the economy goes under, your party will be to blame and you specifically if you spearheaded the effort. They have no leverage as things are now so they can't reign in these companies.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of some push by the current government to silently pump up their entertainment industry. They're already pushing music, movies and TV show on the international audience, so it makes sense that they'd be putting money into gaming too since it's only grown in popularity in the last 10 years. Sony is still a Japanese company though and there's a lot of bad blood between Japan and Korea. This is what Microsoft SHOULD be doing, but for whatever reason they're not. South Korea has a huge number of people gaming on cutting edge hardware. It makes sense that they should be trying to build a bigger presence there.

If I was working for Sony I'd be trying to get more Playstation games in Korean machines.

Korea definitely seems like it’s been ignored by console gaming industry, they have a thriving film and animation industry. Seems like the perfect time for big game publishers to dip their toe in

Microsoft bought world of Warcraft so Sony went out and bought Guild wars. :mjlol:

…Guild Wars
ArenaNet (The devs behind Guild Wars) were ready to put Guild Wars 2 on Maintenance mode to milk the player base while they tried making some mobile games.
NCSoft had to step in slap the shyt outta them because the main cash cow was hemorrhaging players :wow:

They are not a good publisher. Been milking Lineage and Blade n Soul for a decade now. Not that exciting of news.

Pearl Abyss though maybe alright, we will see how Crimson Desert pans out.
