you can when one pays for the other. Baseball, basketball, rowing and all that other shyt would not exist w/o football (even the ncaa pres said this). And it aint like footballs an easy sport to play.

The whole point of Title IX is that so no athlete can be treated unfairly based on their sport, race, or gender. It'll never happen.

getting your education paid for is nice

but imagine being a star athlete from a poor family living off ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a baby that you can barely afford to buy diapers for. in the meantime you watch as hundreds of students, faculty and alumni walk around campus and are at every home game with your $75 jersey on. shyt just isn't right.

and if you take $5 from a booster you're ruled ineligible to play:smh:

so we are suppose to feel bad ta they have to wait a year or 2 to sign multi-million dollar contacts?

lets stop acting like every ncaa player is a star.. about 1% of ncaa athletes will be makin multi-millions..

while the other 99% will LIVE off their college degress for the rest of their lifes

this entitled generation :smh:

Again though...this isn't about PAYING players to play

this is about finding a way to divide the cut of the revenues...which COULD result in pay

the BIGGER reward would be the LICENSING...it could open up players to be allowed to make money off their likeness...they could participate in advertisements and make money that way

I have no problem if the NCAA doesn't want to allow schools to pay their athletes...i DO have a problem with players not being able to profit off their own likeness...that seems ridiculous.

Phil Knight would offer kids personal shoe lines to go to oregon.

athletes are the the ones with the god-given athletic ability busting their asses to stay eligible and perform. not the fat cacs that sit behind closed doors with their fancy suits waiting to declare them ineligible the minute they take $5 from anyone.

fukk the NCAA and everything they stand for. some of biggest hypocrites in american society.

They provide the platform for those athletes. Considering there IS a paid alternative everywhere but football (and for their own good too), if it's about the money, the Jennings route worked for him and even for Jeremy Tyler.

why isnt 200k in shool payment enough?

wonder what the % of ncaa players who total over 2mili in their careers... probably like 3% or sum shyt

Because the 200k in school payment means nothing when these guys are shuttled into classes/majors where they are handheld and encouraged to not take things seriously.

The whole myth that student athletes are actually students, especially at big time programs, is a weak argument. It's an outdated model that doesn't make sense in 2013.

You think the guy who couldn't get into the school if it weren't for his 40 time is gaining a ton off that chance at a degree?
