ESPN NCAA athletes can pursue TV money

come on judges...let the NCAA burn!...I've been wanting this corrupt institution done for years...it's a broken model based on the way college athletics were run before it was a billion dollar business

maybe the courts will deal with their corruption.

only football players should get paid. They risk their bodies + football revenue goes to the other sports.

Exactly how is Title IX going to stop this lawsuit from going through?

it has no bearing on this lawsuit at all

I think you need to re-read Title IX...this has to deal with sharing money amongst ALL athletes to claim a share of the television revenues generated by their specific sport...this has nothing to do with discriminating amongst the sexes

you guys are look at this as "hey maybe they can pay players"

no this is about breaking the NCAA and forcing it to change the business model and allow players to gain licensing revenues and possibly open the door to players owning their own likeness and NOT the NCAA owning their likeness

Title IX literally has NOTHING to do with this case

Exactly why they shouldn't be paid. You cannot include one and exclude others. :manny:

you can when one pays for the other. Baseball, basketball, rowing and all that other shyt would not exist w/o football (even the ncaa pres said this). And it aint like footballs an easy sport to play.

why isnt 200k in shool payment enough?

wonder what the % of ncaa players who total over 2mili in their careers... probably like 3% or sum shyt

why is that the framing of the question?

why should schools and the NCAA be able to profit off the labor of their "students"?

The NCAA signed 10.8 billion dollar television deal

they had documents that showed them turning millions of dollars in pure profits and investments

why shouldn't the athletes who produce the product get a cut?...you can't compare them to other students...great scholars aren't generating millions of dollars of revenue for their school for the compensation of a scholarship.

If coaches get paid and at the schools receive a large chunk of its revenue from sports, players should get paid.

Again though...this isn't about PAYING players to play

this is about finding a way to divide the cut of the revenues...which COULD result in pay

the BIGGER reward would be the LICENSING...it could open up players to be allowed to make money off their likeness...they could participate in advertisements and make money that way

I have no problem if the NCAA doesn't want to allow schools to pay their athletes...i DO have a problem with players not being able to profit off their own likeness...that seems ridiculous.

I look at it like this, people should be able to profit off of their own likenesses but paying students, I've gone back and forth on this but I don't think it is appropriate in the long run. A college education is something that most of us have here and most of us are paying that bytch named Sallie Mae back. To be able to come out of college, debt free with a degree. That is amazing brehs. Just like an any industry, the person above you is going to make more money. They 'pay' these guys with scholarships, like 10-20k a year, over 4-5 years. Not a dime do this people have to pay back. That is compensation enough.

getting your education paid for is nice

but imagine being a star athlete from a poor family living off ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a baby that you can barely afford to buy diapers for. in the meantime you watch as hundreds of students, faculty and alumni walk around campus and are at every home game with your $75 jersey on. and you can't see a penny of that. shyt just isn't right.
