Exactly. The only time in recent history that didn't work is the Dirk MVP. Otherwise it's either a celebration for the home team or extra incentive for the visiting team to ruin the party. Either way, adds to the game.

The awards should be issued after the regular season. It's a regular season award.
Yea I kinda feel bad for Russ, giving the award this late definitely ruins the moment. That OKC/HOU series would've been a helluva lot more entertaining had we known which guy was the actual MVP.

I believe that there should be a week or 2 hiatus between the regular season and the playoffs, and during that hiatus they should do this award show.
The hiatus between the regular season and the playoffs makes sense too because players that are banged up also can get a chance to recover a bit and it should overall improve the quality of the playoffs
