:childplease: When did hooking become a natural basketball move? If the reach is a foul then the ref will call it without the player having to hook the defender.

:mjtf: You brehs be out there hooking folks and calling fouls in the gym?
Don’t compare pick up ball to regulation ball breh, defenders should not have their hand in the cookie jar

How is that clip wit Harden/Giannis and Melo/Trae bullshyt? They were reachin and took advantage of bad defense
There does seem to be gray with that ruling.

Going off that first clip, they're judging that the contact Melo makes is marginal (where he doesn't restrict the movement of Trae; not calling a touch foul), and the infraction is Trae going out of his way to then hook his arm. Now, if Trae didn't hook his arm, Melo would've been called for a foul a fraction of a second later for his contact, because it would've affected Trae's progress. As you can see in the next clip, Giannis is allowed to momentarily touch Harden, which they don't call as a foul.

It seems as whoever stops the player from carrying out an action (be that the offensive or defensive player), will be called for the foul. Marginal contact will be let go.

That's my interpretation of it anyway.

:gucci:

its crazy how that shyt is normalized and defended :dead: that's not what a hand in the cookie jar refers to - that's blatant fukking hooking. guys used to do it all the time in the post, it got banned, and guards started bringing it back on the perimeter over the years

I did'nt say I agreed with it....truth be told it should'nt be a reach in foul but I can see how it could be called one given the current NBA rules and how they're called during the regular season

During the playoffs that shyt is nothing but good old defense

So u didn’t see your man’s Gerald Henderson put his arm on Lou midsection? How they arms get tangled then? For Lou to hook him u have to have your arm on the offensive player

one arm on a person around the hip area by itself is not foul :russ:

when you as the offensive player take positive control of that arm though and continue your action while manipulating that arm - its egregious.

the fact that you can do shyt as a ballhandler that you're not even allowed do while jockeying for a rebound is the insane shyt that people are talking about regarding NBA officiating :dead:
