Not even 8 minutes of content on ESPN/ABC Halftime. It's like 2 minutes of content.
TNT Halftime will have 8 minutes of content.

Greeny, SAS and Wilbon's halftime show salaries aren't going to pay themselves. They're the expensive but more safer option as you know they aren't going to have an controversy behind them taking attention away from the sport and that's exactly what ESPN wants.
Warner Bros. Discovery is paying Shaq, Ernie, Kenny and Charles probably just as much if not more money than what Disney is paying these guys.
How come TNT can have a halftime show that's 6-7 minutes and still run ads?
They're paying a lot of money for the NBA too!

They're definitely doing all those guys a disservice by barely devoting any coverage to the halftime show especially with how much they're paying them. It makes no remote sense whatsoever.
They misled people to believe that more attention would be devoted to the halftime show with guys coming in, but it's just the same old halftime show that people complain about with different faces.

It's not just the studio shows that show the difference, though. If you were to rank the top-5 play-by-play voices combined between TNT and ESPN, probably the only ESPN guy guaranteed to be ranked in there is Mike Breen. TNT has Kevin Harlan, Ian Eagle, and Brian Anderson, all of whom are better than what else ESPN has to offer. Mark Jones or Dave Pasch might slip in at #5.
ESPN does an extreme amount of crowd shots during the game. They've done this for decades. TNT and every other network is far more restrained in how they do this. The game is about the players, not the people watching the players. I remember during the Finals a couple years ago during one of the Suns wins where they were comfortably ahead the entire 4th quarter and there would be a cut to a shot of fans after what seemed like every single shot the Suns hit. It was ridiculous. ESPN production is the definition of fukking amateur. I hate watching games on ESPN. And this stuff applies to every sport they cover.
A lot of this also applies to ESPN vs. TNT with the NHL as well, btw. TNT has the better studio, better production, generally the better color commentators, and definitely the better play-by-plays. ESPN has neutered Ray Ferraro; the guy I remember from TSN with the Leafs is not the guy ESPN has doing the color commentary now. And the gulf between play-by-play is even worse here than it is with the NBA; at least in the NBA they have Mike Breen, but in the NHL, ESPN's best play-by-play is worse than every single play-by-play that Turner has in their employ. It's not even a fair fight. Albert, Forslund, Burke, Faust...every single one of them is better. Even the playoff fill-ins are better. And it's easy to see why that is, because every single name I just mentioned has a day job covering an NHL team on TV or radio. NONE of ESPN's guys do that. Bob Wischusen, bless his heart because I actually do like his energy, doesn't do play-by-play for a team. Sean McDonough doesn't. Mike Monaco doesn't. John Buccigross loves hockey but he's a total fukking blowhard who doesn't belong in a broadcast booth. Steve Levy called hockey games 20 years ago and very few since then. I mean, no fukking wonder, eh?

am I tripping or are way more playoff games on TNT than ESPN/ABC these days/this yr?
maybe it has always been that way, or maybe it is still 50/50 and I'm just tripin, but it feels like 70-80% of the games are on TNT this post season when it used to be more split evenly. ESPN probably squeezing in as many ads as they can to get that revenue lol.
Traditionally TNT has most of the weekday games
ESPN/ABC would get Friday through Sunday
ESPN would be better off with Reddikk, Legler and Richard Jefferson or Monica McNutt

Last night right? That was insane. They ran like 3 minutes of ads. They come back, SAS says one line to Jalen and they went right back to commercials???yeah its horrible they will say one word and then cut to commercial
Even then, they still won't give the halftime show any decent coverage. It's more so the ad time that's the issue rather than the talent itself.
