Also none of these guys are mega stars to get casuals to watch.

They fukked up how they scheduled it. Wasn't it a whole ass week since the conference finals ended? I only knew it was happening when I came on here and it was already 20 points difference by that point. I watched a movie instead.

? But the NBA thrives with historic, generational players. Magic and Bird > Jordan > Shaq Kobe > Lebron and Steph.

The issue is that most of the current top players dont seem to be a big draw

I still blame ESPN and ABC for this partially. They don't hype up the games or make them feel important. And they didn't advertise it at all


Oh well, the NBA got their TV deal so this doesn't matter to them

NBA spent 30 years hyping players over teams which has led to most nba fans being stans/dikkriders..so when the stars aren’t there the viewership won’t be either .

Gotta blame themselves and the way they allowed it to be marketed

Rating isn’t a surprise. There isn’t a draw or compelling storyline that compels people to tune in.

Game 1 being over at halftime didn’t help matters.

It’s a solid number, besides the NFL nothing on TV will draw 20 million or not on a consistent basis anymore. This is why NBC is likely overpaying for the NBA, they get good numbers like this all the time through the season and playoffs

The Cooper Flagg hype I don't think will do it either, dude will be in the league in about a year and a half, if it hasn't hit by now, it won't.

They need a really good fukking rivalry really. Like a tremendously good one. It'll be Wemby's league soon, so they need someone to rival.
