When Fidel took over Cuba in 1959, he knew that he had a target at his head by the CIA. That was why he was so generous to give Jamaica its doctors and other resources and even Haiti, because Jamaica and Haiti been known as the leaders that rebelled against the British/French and ended slavery long before 1865 (1804 in Haiti, 1820 in Jamaica). Castro from the jump never wanted that smoke, so he know that Jamaica was a huge supporter of Democracy and not tolerant of any dictatorship or imperialism ff any kind. If he came to Jamaica and talked about embargos of resources what Communist Cuba did, he would been a dead man. That is why Michael Manley was damn near ousted in Jamaica because he gotten to friendly to Cuba.
