yea i know but it seems kinda fuked up for the nats, no insurance,

:damn:
When he signed that contract EVERYBODY was :why: because of his injury history. Sort of like when Anthony Davis resigned with the Lakers. Great if it works out but stupid as fukk if the injuries continue.

Salute to Strasburg. I was there in person for his first career start where he struck out 14 vs Pirates and at one point 7 in a row. The most electric it had ever been at Nats Park & you just had the feeling that so much was going to change & hope for Postseason success down the line. He had Tommy John surgery early on and when he came back in 2012 & Nats shut him down after reaching his innings limit the Nationals caught much flack & downtalked. It definitely ended up being the right move as his career blossomed over the years and ended with the Nationals winning the WS & Strasburg WS MVP in 2019. What a run during that Postseason. All-time great performance. Legendary. Salute.

:salute:

Now DC sports about to be piss poor for several seasons

Commanders - feels like a rebuild is gonna happen soon
Capitols - Rebuild happening next summer or the summers after
Wizards - Rebuild happening now
Nationals - Rebuild happening now
Well, if you rock with them as the city's NCAA team, UMd.'s set up to be pretty good on the gridiron and on the court (men and women) this season.

Anyway, Strasburg was so much fun to watch when he was on. His starts were straight-up events in that rookie year.

I do remember talking heads here and there worrying about his delivery - I think it's called the inverted W - and how that could eventually wreak havoc with his elbow/shoulder. Mark Prior had the same motion, IIRC.
