Are talking about Mad Max: Fury Road? What is it supposed to allegorize? I know that the action genre has been appalling, but it is a good action picture, and that is about it. It is no Children of Men.

The environment with all the stuff about water and gas, male/female relationships, the ills of living in a world where the resources are controlled by a few and given to none unless they beckon, hope and optimism vs cynicism, gender roles, and also asking are there problems living in a patriarchal society.

It's a good look for the movie. May not mean anything but hopefully it does
According to birth movies death, no country for old men and slumdog are the only two times the board and academy agreed

It's neck and neck with Creed with me..Creed may have surpassed it by a hair but I think it's stronger than straight outta compton and the martian and i love both of them. It's the one movie this year, that is a singular achievement across the board while also managing to have a lot to say about the world we live in
Creed is my #2 fav right now after fury road. I think spotlight is a better movie but i never wanna see it again.

4 big movies this month with 3 heavy hitters film nerds been waiting for all year :banderas:

Still have Fury Road as my favorite. So much to chew in a movie that on face basis appear simple. Creed is an extreme close 2nd due to the emotional value. But Fury Road is arguably the most socially conscious or aware action film without appearing socially conscious or aware outside the pro-feminism.

Low key...

if Straight Outta Compton's 3rd act would have been strong. That might have been the movie of the year imo.

The quality dip by the end of the movie:francis:

Idk breh. After seeing Creed twice...it passed it up imo. Movie was even better the 2nd time I saw it. :wow:

That movie is going to have a helluva rewatch factor for it.

Yup that 3rd act, while not bad, is just weak in comparison to the rest of the flick and its like they all went "oh yeah, we gotta wrap this shyt up!"

So it looks like they separate major studio, foreign, and independent movies? That's stupid as hell.
