I'm not sure if "ignored" is fair either. There's been a fair amount of war and economic turmoil between Eisenhower and now. In spite of that the America of Eisenhower would be unrecognizable by that generation to the America of today.


I also vividly remember Obama trying to get a jobs and infrastructure bill passed but was blocked repeatedly.

I think a lot of people care more about using it for partisan points that they actually care about infrastructure....which is why nothing changes.
