My Mind Right wasn't out until 2000, on the Backstage OST, the remix was on Bleek's second album.
The solo version was a response to Nastradamus, 'Ya lifestyles written well who you supposed to be"
and then Nas came back with the verse on Da Bridge 2001, in late 2000 also.
The first Bleek shots were on his debut,
Coming of Age, from a song featuring Jay
"
What You Think of That", and Jay goes at Nas on his verse, not Bleek
so then Nas said "
you wanna ball till you fall I can help you that"
The hook of the Bleek song goes
"I wanna ball til I fall, what you think of that
Nas also had a freestyle around spring/summer 2000, over 'Eye For An Eye" where he went right at Jay, pretty directly.
here's the Jay verse
Know nikkas ain't frontin' like I'm a clown or sumthin'
Like I don't get down or sumthin'
Like I don't tote a 4 pound of sumthin'
Round here frontin' like my shyt don't sound like nuttin'
Like I ain't got the crown or suttin'
Like I ain't the nikka you base ya life on
I guess I ain't the reason you got that ice on
Like I ain't the muthafukkin' dude with the shoes
I guess I ain't the reason you rhyme the way you do
Like I ain't the nikka who mastered all flows
And the reason they can't sell them four point O's
Like I ain't 5 mill', and what do ya joint go?
Excuse me? nikka don't confuse me
I ain't one of you rappers who got a deal
I'm one of the few nikkas spittin' it and got it for real
And even if you hatin', you gotta knock it in yo' wheels
And the day that I stop it.....ILL!!
