the tri-state
im the one who uploaded the song to the internet

backround info;

got the song from a white label vinyl pressed in 2000 along with a cd single for never gonna give it up feat product gnb produced by al west and trackmasters

the only person i know who has a copy of this vinyl is dj rhude; the version on his lost tapes mixtape IS the same version i uploaded originally.

@spliz @RAW_SPK the song is from the scrapped album Death Of Escobar which was a precursor to nastradamus and stillmatic

the song is produced by trackmasters and features a prominent sample of slick rick from the track the moment i feared

the original sample and title of that song reflect the content and feeling of the fear of not being accepted and what fans and media percieved as the sophomore jinx.

the song is one of my favorites of all time which is why i decided to share it despite nas not cosigning his music being shared/leaked on the internet at the time

as a futurist im happy to say i saw the bigger picture/greater vision

it warms my heart to see people consider that top 5 nas or one of his best songs

this thread is an appreciation thread for myself and the love we have for the culture

So Among Kings and the ski made it past the leak and actually made it to the advance copy. It deserves an official release. I'll take these right now and be totally happy with it as Lost Tapes 3, even through in never gonna give it up and When Thugs Die as a bonus. LOL

Tales From the Hood
You Don't Know Me/Stay Alive
My Worst Enemy Is Me
Your Mouth Got You In It
When Thugs
Curse (Finished or Unfinished)
Rise and Fall
Afterlife Skit
Among Kings
Seed Of Heaven

When Thugs Die (Bonus)
Never Gonna Give It Up (Bonus)
amongst kings is on qb finest, fam.

Speaking of DJ Rhude, have you heard anything about the music he was supposed to release this year?

Although Nas has moved on from his Sony/Columbia Lost Tapes, and I have reluctantly done the same, I’m convinced he still has one/possibly two very solid 12 track Lost Tapes compilation albums there.

I hope that whoever the custodian of his vaults at Sony, Def Jam and even Mass Appeal are, they truly understand what his work (even the incomplete work) truly means to us.

@DJRhude said that “life” has basically slowed down the found tapes. I was waiting on that.
Appreciate the update Big Mark, was wondering on the status of this. Definitely waiting on that myself. Was afraid Rhude might have gotten spooked after that “Real N@@@as” (Pac diss) leaked earlier this year and there was a bunch of ruckus online about it.

Yeah. While Nas is still relevant and putting in work with his new music, I still find great enjoyment hearing about, discovering and discussing his old music. Very grateful for Nas.

@Ziggiy

Do you know how much of this is real and how much of this is just storytelling? And I'm assuming this covers the period between Illmatic and I Am... (the album that sold triple platinum and got Nas the respect back)?
