I think about the track Film. I know he did it with c-sick, the young producer for the red bull competition but Nas pre-wrote the rhymes and it is so vivid. You telling me Nas keeps tight shyt like that written in his book of rhymes (phone notes) available for the next track he jumps on? I wonder exactly when he did that? I wonder what album the rhymes for film could have gone on.

This/

Been shaking my head at some of the posts in here :francis: brehs want CDq of tracks that been on YouTube for close to a decade
To be fair, he put “U Gotta Love It” on the first Lost Tapes album, and that was a mixtape song, floating around for a long time before he remade it.

Remember liner notes? I hope Nas or Mass Appeal eventually offers insight into the history of the lost tapes, the process behind putting this group of tracks together, the “movement” and possibilities for future installments. Usually this would be done in liner notes. Remember inside the I am cd case, there was the announcement for the nastradamus album coming in like 6 months? I was pumped! They use to pack little inserts in the cd cases that would either announce the next Nas project or promote and existing project. I know now there is IG and twitter but the project details now aren’t even close to as detailed as they used to be. We have to wait until the 10th and 20th year anniversary for any info on the process behind the project. Now, for many artist, it’s just released and then move on to the next.

Legacy artists like Nas should document all their shyt, be sure everything is catalogued and record, record, record... and keep cameras in the studio too. The Lost Tapes will have a life Nas is gone, like Illmatic. shyt should be well documented.

New world isn't a great, unique, concept track combining Nas' commentary about where the world already is in contrast to the past with a fantasy of his vision of a possible future, a great "Africa" sample, powerful singing vocals and a feel good feel?

Still an ok song overall.

Shoot Em Up isn't exactly Nas at his most lyrical but goddamn if it aint entertaining as fukk

As is "Quiet nikkas", but it still isn't something I would put as a 4/5 Nas song. A lot of Nastradamus is what should've been on QB's Finest and some of the QB's Finest songs should've been on Nastradamus. At least, that's how I feel.

Too many of you have no idea what's going on.

Nas is not about to release an album full of songs you've been able to easily access on YouTube for years. Just so you can have the cdq quality.

Expect songs that's been in the stash, Songs that's been reworked, Songs that was made for a particular album that didn't come out, Songs that didn't make the cut of previous albums. IE, the record with him, justin, n jay.

If you expecting talk of ny n my will type of songs(songs that's been on YouTube for years)
You're totally off base

This.

At best, songs in which only the snippets came out might be released in full i.e "Colours", "The Scientist", and the 15 second snippet Timbaland posted years ago.

5 tracks will have jay-z on it

Can you confirm this?

I mean, we know of:

The Scientist

Street---- Swizz tacked on Jay, Jada, and X. The original just had Nas on it. It was one of the more talked about songs during the Life Is Good listening sessions

Sinatra In The Sands

YN from XXLmag confirmed Nas and Jay did three songs together in one night for HHID. Only "Black Republicans" was released from that session.

I don’t believe it and I personally just want to hear Nas. I want The Lost Tapes to remain his thing with no features and no bullshyt.

I doubt they keep that same energy with this project. The first one had no expectations and I don't think anyone expected it to become what it was. Now, there's a light on a Lost Tapes project to where it's like an album. Given, this one has had years of build up and the fact that it was initially supposed to include songs from The Firm era, I don't think it will stay true to the no features theme.

Whoever compiled the first one took storytelling songs and introspective songs and made an allow, which doesn't allow for features. That's what was really dope about the first one. What leads me to believe this one has some features is Swizz saying Lost Tapes will have several memorable moments.

If it does indeed have features, I think it would be dope if we didn't get a tracklist until it dropped. If you cop a physical, you actual have to open the packaging to see which songs are on there as opposed to just reading the back cover.

The Scientist according to Just Blaze was supposed to be the official Jay/Nas collab that was to be on HHID. Nas came to the studio with the some rhyme books and started piecing verses together. Then he got a call from someone, said he’d be back, and never returned.

Just recently said that the track is finished so if its included on Lost Tapes AND still has a Jay verse then that probably counts out Street shyt and Sinatra In The Sands because Nas ain’t putting THREE jay verses on his album, let alone Lost Tapes.
