Man I really miss this cat. It was crazy b/c I saw him blow up from just making personal mixtapes on the side for me a few other cats around the city to the whole city knowing his name. When I came to his house he was always cool and when I saw him out in public he always spoke. Real humble cat. It was crazy b/c he would walk or ride around the city solo and people wouldn't even know who he was.

Man I never had an opportunity to get hip to DJ Screw until his passing. but seeing the interviews and old footage made me respect him. the biggest thing that amazes me still to this day is he's one of the few who's going to go down in history as being a true innovator and creator. dude did something that had never before been utilized in a continuous and thorough format (Slowing down and chopping records) and it's still being copied (never perfected) to this day. dude (from my research) was able to damn unify all of Houston and most if not all of Texas under a single banner. dope shyt.

Yea man the fact that he gave thug nikkas going in and out of jail a platform from around the city in order for them to get real record deals and ask for nothing back in return is crazy. Just shows you how much he wanted to see other people make it.

Casset tapes. :wow:

I remember recording songs off of music videos using a little voice recorder.

Remember having the debate with myself do I splurge and buy a CD or do I save myself the couple bucks an buy a tape.

My brother got locked up and all they had was a cassette player, I remember looking for Streets Disciple and High School drop out on cassette to send to him. I could only find the clean versions at target :mjcry:

Still have a home and portable minidisc units.

This thread taking me back something serious, countless walkmans I went through plus headphones and car decks. I remember when I got the Sony boombox below, CFD-770, thought I was the man with this beast. Full logic auto-reverse dual-deck with high speed cd and tape dubbing, handled metal and high-bias tapes. cd player, alarm clock, 3-band eq, 2-way speakers, and remote control. $500 back in 1991 :dead:

Cassettes were the best when you used them in a deck that had Dolby HX Pro

i almost bought a mini disc walkman and a stereo with a minidisc player back in 2002 but nothing was ever released on MD and it would have just ended up being a fancy tape player because i would have kept buying cd's and dubbing to MD.

I invested in a hell of a CD collection, so I'd just burn mixes like on a cd of the best tracks.
