I don't hate Nas. Yes, I troll occasionally. But I have said many times that this is my stance on the guy:

- all time great MC. GOAT contender.
- GOAT level album in Illmatic
- lyrically incredible and has hardly lost a step in that regard
- inconsistent discography
- overrated in the sense that he's carried by the legacy of Illmatic and is thus too often crowned the outright GOAT MC undeservedly imo
- his stans are unbearable especially on the internet
- his ear for beats is terrible, a big reason for his underwhelming discog

that's what I think about him. I'm not gonna pretend I LOVE him or I listen to him a lot. I have a problem with his fans more than I do with him. Now tell me if this is unreasonable....WITHOUT being butt hurt and resorting to childish insults.

I suppose the 'unreasonable' thing about this is that you mention Nas having a consistent discography even though Jay-Z's album quality consistency is around the same level. I mean Jay's albums were arguably getting worse from 1996 to 2000 and then suddenly drops The Blueprint. Then there's Black Album after Blueprint 2... 4:44 after MCHG

Illmatic alone is incredible enough to give Nas a mention when listing great rappers. Then you got a bunch of other great songs in his catalog...

Let's look at your last four points
-I think he has been very consistent outside from 99-01. And had he released the original I AM his record would be flawless.
-If you take off Illmatic,he still got albums like Iww which is better than Illmatic to some, stillmatic, lost tapes...
-every goat artists has unbearable stans. NaS is no different.
-he does struggle with beats at times but once again you are in the minority When it comes to his discography. Nobody can force you to change your stance but you can't force everyone to change theirs either. It's just comical you find yourself in every NaS thread hating:lmaonas:

OK allow me to retort.

- You say very consistent outside those years but outside those years he has released albums like Untitled, Street's Disciple, HHID. Hardly great albums.
- True. IWW is great. Stillmatic very good. God's Son underrated. Lost Tapes (compilation but still...) very good. He has some great stuff. But Illmatic has really carried his name to a level that is a little too overrated. People automatically assign the GOAT album (which Illmatic could very well be) to Nas being the GOAT artist simply because he made that album...if that makes sense.
- Ehhh....Nas stans are a little extra with it. But agree to disagree.
- I don't think I am in the minority. Most people would agree his discog is pretty average or just above average, certainly not up to the calibre of a Scarface, Ghostface, Common and other GOAT contenders. The beat thing is also commonly argued, so it's not just me. He is notoriously a bad beat picker...and that's the ONLY reason his albums can be lacklustre because his lyricism is ALWAYS sharp. If he gets good beats or has a great visionary working by his side, he will release dope shyt. Simple.

I'm not in all his threads hating. Sometimes, yes, I admit I troll excessively. But for the most part I'm being honest.

I also said Jay has an underwhelming discog. But when you have that, then you need to have classics to your name, and I think Jay has the edge over Nas in that regard. Though Jay has no album as good as Illmatic.

:ohhh: wasn't expecting you to say this :lolbron:

I'd give more props to The Lost Tapes too. I love that shyt :wow:

I see what you mean :ehh: I'd still say they're around equal though

People always think I'm trolling Nas but they don't realise the only time I give him/his stans shyt is when it's linked to a thread where Nas is compared to other MCs or something and I think the Nas landslide in votes is unfair. I can't think of too many other occasions otherwise. I don't listen to him much but doesn't mean I don't respect him/his work/his place in the game.

Yeah God's Son is very underrated. I like it a lot.

Regarding Jay and Nas being equal or around equal, I'm not mad at that opinion. I just disagree. Think Jay has a slightly better discog overall and the extra classic works heavily in his favour imo. But I think I am a little bias in terms of preferring his music that's why I rate him higher on the GOAT list...but that's normal. Lists tend to be subjective.
