I can respect your opinion OP, but I don't agree with it. Part 2 is dope and I like the change to the beat, but part one kicked in the door to my mind and made me a Nas fan for life. On the strength of that, I'll side with the original.

They comparable lyrically, but the energy, flow, and delivery from the original NYSOM >>>>>. Overall, the original gets the edge easily. The laid back beat from Pt. 2 also makes the song more the type of song I have to be in a certain mood to listen to. NYSOM Pt. 1 is something I can listen to anytime. Plus, it's one of Nas's best songs. Top 5 easily.

Nope, NaS was rhyming on some outer body ish on "NYSOM 1". Part II was a Classic sequel that at best honored the original. Premo went the fukk in on the original. Musically they are about even but I did like the piano loop on the sequel cause it was higher notes but again the original is untouchable. Outside of Biggie's "Things Dun Changed", nothing vividly brought you to the streets of NY like that track.
