Bruh he's 25 years deep, he's supposed to be old school.

He's right where he needs to be. He made 7 tracks and sold ~80K first week. That's a nice little 6-figure payday there. Not including merch and his Mass Appeal deal.
When I say old school I meant along the lines of Kurtis Blow, Busy Bee, Krs-1, etc. Legends that we're respected in their time but couldn't transition to the new era. Nas had a great run, one of the best careers in hip hop history. However, if he can't upgrade his sound he might as well hang up his mic.
No one wants to hear that same tired 90s flow.

This is easily Nas worst album.

Nas is now officially old school and no longer relevant. nikka need to switch his flow up. He also need some young bloods in his circle to keep him on his toes.
It pains me to say this as a Nas Stan but it is what it is :yeshrug:

No... at this point he should just do what he does best over production that fits him best. People who want Nas to "adapt" arent really Nas fans.

Edit: Nas has been "old school" since like 08.

Fam. Alot of these young nikkas dont even fukk wit Jay. Nas is in his 40s I dont even understand the thought of him tryna appeal to kids younger than his own daughter.

:comeon:dude, almost every rapper not doing a mid west or migos flow is basically doing the 90's flow/delivery

What I really want to know is when Khalad said that Nas Album Done, what album was he talking about? When was that?

and..

When Nas released "The Season", what was he on then? When was that in relation to the Nas Album Done joint? Also the Timbalan joint... When? The Salaam joint? When?

Anybody got a timeline on those events?

I ain't gonna lie. Nasir is cool and the rhymes are always tight but I was expecting some Nasty Nas. Even that shyt he spit for the Get Down show was fire.

A big Nas fan but very underwhelmed by this album, lyrics were fine but I wasn’t feeling the 7 track album and the production didn’t mesh for me.

Hoping Nas will release the vault of songs that were planned for this but got shelved, bet they are fire like his other unreleased stuff....

Nas Album Done still is gonna release. He gonna release it on his own label. This album was a Def Jam fulfillment project.

If anybody takes a look back at the last couple years. Its not hard at all to tell how Nas is formulating the course his career will take going forward.

May 2014- Nas announces Mass Appeal Records and Lost Tapes 2

Nas officially revealed that he is launching Mass Appeal Records that will serve as an independent label for the release of his new music.

Through the label, Nas is set to release his long-awaited Lost Tapes 2 project, as well as a posthumous album from Pimp C.

Nas to Record On Mass Appeal Records; Will Release 'Lost Tapes 2' & Posthumous Pimp C Album

Since then he’s gone on to sign RTJ, Fashawn, and Dave East. Nas and East brokered a joint deal between Mass Appeal and Def Jam in fall of 2016

Dave East has officially joined the Def Jam roster. The Harlem rapper, best known for being Nas' prodigy and signee on Mass Appeal Records, announced his new deal on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club on Thursday morning (Sept. 29).

"Mass Appeal is still the family, but I actually just did a joint venture with Def Jam," he said. "I am very excited about it." He added of the deal, "It wasn't just the average [deal of] me signing to a major -- I'm actually partners with [Def Jam]. It was just a step forward for me. I was with Mass Appeal solely for almost two years

Dave East Signs to Def Jam, Reveals Nas Will Executive Produce His Major Label Debut

From there Nas has been figuring out the best way to finalize his contractual obligation to Def Jam while being able to utilize his name and prestige as a launchpad for his upcoming Mass Appeal music. From 2014 to late 2017 Nas was working with Hip Hop Since 1978 to curate an album that would launch the next phase of his music career.

Enter Kanye West.

Why give Def Jam a FULL album’s worth if material when you can work with Kanye West, one of the most talented and culturally relevant Hip Hop stars of the past 15 years on an EP? With West at the helm, Nas could focus on exiting Def Jam with a bang while allowing Kanye to do all the marketing/hype building. So while Kanye was chopping samples from the sunken place Nas was negotiating what turned out to be both his ending and his new beginning.

Mass Appeal will spearhead Nas' new album release in collaboration with Def Jam Recordings.

In announcing the partnership, Nas said, "I've been blessed to work with two of the best brands in music. Columbia Records was how I got my start and Def Jam was where I continued that journey. In my next chapter, I am proud to say that I am signing myself to myself. I look forward to releasing many projects in the very near future with Mass Appeal's new global partnership with UMG."

Ziggiy,

This sounds good and some of the info I have been looking for a while now, all in one place, however, this is the speculation. And while it makes perfect since (and I hope this is the plan) we don't know yet. So, I have my fingers crossed for this being the plan, if not better. I just wish we get some real updates form Nas and some confirmation on some new music soon. I know it won't come anytime soon though.
