You've got to talk to your crew on this because they're the one's who insist on running with this.

To be honest, at first I dismissed it for the reasons that you just pointed out but after days of hearing many many people running with the same rumor I'm starting to see the angle. Jay has a history of being petty as an MC not letting shyt slide. It could be that jay didn't like the Nas-Kanye collab and felt a way about it. Go back and listen friends which most think is aimed at Kanye.

Tight circle no squares
I'm geometrically opposed to you
Y'all like to try angles(triangles)
Y'all like to troll, do you?

Is it possible that jay saw Kanye hooking up with Nas as a way of trolling, tryna get an angle to get under his skin? Maybe. Is it possible that jay looked at Nas funny for working with Kanye knowing that he and Kanye were going thru some stuff? Maybe. One of those scenarios or both could be true. I just haven't seen any real evidence so it's all blind speculation. Nothing wrong with speculation amongst fans until feelings get involved. Nas fanboys immediate caught feelings over the possibility that that this might be a "competition" thing. Even if jay was tryna jab Nas and Kanye, so what? That's no need for fans to catch feelings. Nas is a grown ass man. If he feel a way his pen game is proven.

I claim no crew other than #TPC

And it STILL makes zero sense

Nas and Kanye worked together in 2005 on We Major and Jay had nothing to say

Nas and Kanye worked together on Hip Hop Is Dead and Jay had nothing to say

Kanye has said frequently that Nas is his favorite rapper. Jay had nothing to say.

But now, in TWENTY EIGHTEEN. After the I Declare War concert reunion, Nas signing to Def Jam, 4 collaborations, numerous joint concert appearances, Jay-Z proclaiming Nas one of the greatest rappers of all time, Nas saying “Thank God For Jay-Z”, and absolutely no HINT of bad blood.

NOW Jay-Z feels a way about Kanye working with Nas?

NONE of it makes sense

Camel spent his entire career sneak dissing other rappers and bragging about how he's richer and more commercially successful than everyone else, you really think he's not that petty to do some shyt to underhand Nas? LMAO come the fukk on

Like I said, I'm more inclined to agree with you but my main point is that the constant hate-trolling is overwhelmingly one-sided coming from Nas fanboys.

New York, NY (June 13, 2018) – Mass Appeal, the urban culture-focused media and entertainment company, and Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced the companies have entered into a multi-year global agreement.

The deal encompasses the exclusive distribution of physical and digital formats for recorded music and short-form video content and provides Mass Appeal with the ability to strategically leverage UMG’s marketing and promotion teams across more than 60 territories for select artists and projects.

UMG will also distribute Mass Appeal’s extensive catalog of releases from artists who include DJ Shadow, J Dilla and Run the Jewels, as well as all forward-looking projectsincluding the highly-anticipated 11thsolo record from Nas.Mass Appeal will spearhead Nas’ new album release in collaboration with Def Jam Recordings.

In announcing the partnership, Nas said, “I’ve been blessed to work with two of the best brands in music. Columbia Records was how I got my start and Def Jam was where I continued that journey. In my next chapter, I am proud to say that I am signing myself to myself. I look forward to releasing many projects in the very near future with Mass Appeal’s new global partnership with UMG.”

Following a year where UMG successfully led Mass Appeal’s $6 million Series A funding round, the distribution agreement with UMG will grant the company and its eponymous label the resources to expand its global reach and offerings.

Peter Bittenbender, CEO of Mass Appeal, said, “In the 15 months since joining forces with UMG, we have seen the Mass Appeal brand expand rapidly, experiencing our most successful year to date. Much like fans across the world we are hyped that Nas is finally dropping his new album and couldn’t be more proud that it’s our first release through this new partnership.”

So I finally listened to it in full. I'm a huge Nas stan and I didn't wanna listen to any leaks because I was kinda disappointed listening to the album on the listening party stream. So I waited on the finished, mixed and mastered product.

My thoughts:

Not For Radio - I like it. Epic feel. Nas lyrically isn't going to have you in awe but he's dropping jewels. I forgot who said it in here but this does have a Untitled N.I.G.G.E.R feel.

Cops Shot the Kid - Beat still waaay too overbearing but I like it more than I did on first listen. Would've been better with less "Cop shot the Kid" and screaming sample.

White Label - Dont like it

Bonjour - Love this song. I loved it on the stream and I love it now. Could have fit very comfortably on Life Is Good.

Everything - Dope song but would of been better with less singing at the start. Another example of Ye doing too much.

Adam and Eve - Second favorite track on the album. Nas did his thing on here. Dope beat.

Simple Things - Nice mellow track. Love that Nas addresses the beat criticisms on it.

Overall, my first full impression...good project. Nothing more, nothing less. This is not too high on Nas' pantheon of albums but doesn't tarnish the discography. Lyrically Nas is on point. Not really seeing any huge flow issues that I've been reading about on here. Kanye is mostly ok production wise but if he blatantly bit the cover and a couple of the songs beats than he a super clown for that. The GOAT deserves better.
