Listened to that ebro apple music interview. They was trying to make the hov line into something competitive, instigating a little. Legit the word that comes after the bars are done is 'laughing'.
Nas didn't mean it that serious, and I know they're friends, but I'll live the rest of my life still believing there's some friendly competition there. No way there isn't. They're the 2 giants of the game that are still around since the golden era. There's literally zero chance that Jay doesn't feel some type of competitive hunger with everything Nas has done these past few years. IMHO Nas might not feel as competitive, because he's clearly in the lead at this point. But Jay has always been a competitor. Always withe the sports bars. Boxing. Basketball. Used to battle a lot. Has said all the time in interviews that he views emceeing as a contest. And he started the Nas battle to begin with.
I truly feel like Jay would drop an album if he felt like he had something to say right now. I just don't think there's a lot he has to say, unless he's working on an album in secret that we don't know about. I've followed how Jay makes albums since the late 90's Jay has to be inspired, or it doesn't work. Jay just can't go and force an album, and often what inspires him is life shyt. I truly feel like he said a lot of what he has to say right now on God Did.
I think Jay knows he can't just force an album that will resonate with people, and doesn't want to drop a dud. But I also think if he thought he could drop an album next month that would resonate with everyone that he'd do it.
Crazy thing too is I think Nas could basically keep going forever at this point. I don't see him slowing down anytime soon.
