Not sure if mentioned yet but Michael & Quincy from around 52 seconds to 1:05 sounds like Triumph. Probably my favorite moment.

The production on this album is on a different planet. It's fitting they have a song called "Michael & Quincy" because every time Michael came out with an album, he always wanted to do something new. He told Quincy it's all about what's going on right now. He wanted the newest equipment, the newest sounds. KD2 had that same approach, like they got the latest technology for 2021. This time, it's like they got the latest technology for 2022/2023, making the production sound like it has a mind of its own with the beat switches, the way the instruments shift at Nas' command. We're really seeing two greats at the height of what they can do.

I think it's IWW level
Look bro, I ain’t finna start the debate just yet…

But if you not counting Lost Tapes, we might be cracking the holy trinity here :francis:

Aye mane I’m just saying now. You can argue younger Nas albums having higher highs but this has zero filler and the highs on this album approach peak classic Nas songs

Stillmatic is a certified classic album cuz of the amount of classic material it has on it along with the impact and influence it had on the genre, but I’m not gonna pretend it rode straight through as cleanly as this

This is not a rap song why you callin’ it that?

This is a audiobook, I’m an author on tracks".

Hit definitely has more of a presence on this album if that makes sense. Like on stuff like Mike & Quincy, WTF SMH, Don’t Shoot, etc it’s like you can picture Hit in the background pressing buttons to match where Nas is taking it lyrically.

I just got the other meaning behind this line because you quoted it (Nas talking about his mother watching over him).

I got used to rappers (one in particular) being like "Get it? Annie like 'Smooth Criminal' and also my mom so......fukk it, haha."
“Annie are you ok, watching me transforming… watch out ma”…..:mjcry:

Wow, you're right, his mom is called Ann Jones. Very nice

I actually meant Triumph like the Wu Tang song tho.

I can't call it crushing because they didn't do promo. No single, no pre-order, no videos, no interviews (on Friday), no features. I don't get the impression Nas is worried about numbers at all, he's just releasing dope shyt and building his catalog. Personally I think KD3 deserved more, approach wise. The third in a trilogy is often the biggest one, and a victory lap. Music wise you'd think that would mean going all out with a single, big features, Breakfast Club interview on Friday, etc. Maybe a behind the scenes mini doc/feature on the music, the relationship between Nas and Hit Boy, etc. Alas, they went another way.

I just don't want to hear that chick talking shyt about what is is disappointing, who is selling xyz more, telling fans to stream music etc. Lot of Nas fans bought the album, salute them and keep it moving.

What i'll never understand is why Nas camp always so late with the videos, it's been the case for years (Rare being the only exception i think). I mean if they have the budget and do intend to make a video, why wait? The audios for the tracks on YouTube are mostly in the 100-300k range after 5 days when a video would've had a few mill' easy.

That being said, i think i don't understand how this industry works. There was so many people praising the album i can't even get how that didn't convert into more pure sales already..

But get ready for media posting and reposting the figures, trying to change the narrative now.. And that's why a good marketing scheme was important IMO. If they don't care at all, that's another thing, but no bytching about the fans not streaming correctly and low tier rappers calling Nas irrelevant and shyt.

Rice Thresher review
Score- 4.5/5

“King’s Disease III” displays the full prowess of Nas, one of the legends of 90s rap, and continues to show why he deserves a spot in among the top ten rappers. His reflective lyricism, combined with Hit-Boy’s excellent and kinetic sample choices, leads to an addicting listen that continues to amaze.”
