This is facts. Nas is changing the misconception in hip hop that an artist needs to be young in order to be relevant. He is showing that you can be at the forefront of hip hop as an older artist and you don’t need to chase radio to do so.

Oh that's what's keeping them from playing Nas records...lack of phone calls.

Maybe if you introduce the youngsters to some cuts from the album, they might pick up one or two favorites. It's not like y'all mind forcefeeding them junk till they eventually like the shyt n start requesting.

Imagine a radio station like Hot97 needing the youngsters validation to start playing new music from an Artist of Nas caliber. In his hometown no less.

I wasn't feeling that.

Only God knows how Nasir Jones has managed to have such a long n fruitful career without MUCH radio support.

I get so heated at my local urban stations here in Dallas. They never play Nas shyt. Going back to his hottest era. (I can got the most burn) But everytime Nas does a sold out concert here, the two major stations act like his biggest supporters. Like they really fukk with him.

That shyt be turning my stomach

I suspect it's like this in a lot of major cities across the US.

His success /longevity/relevancy is actually baffling.
I'm struggling to find a comparable artist of similar path

They dont play Nas in DC for the most part, but again his shows sell out here as well.

I think y'all just have to let go of the idea that he has to be played. He is a legacy artist.

Thats how it is for all legacy artists. Jay dont get played here either, but more in afternoon mix shows you can here both

I wasn't talking about just now though in the late stages of his career.

For a 90's/early 00's rapper to get play on the radio right now...the music gotta be super ignorant. I don't think most of them are willing to go there
