Nas - King’s Disease (Discussion Thread)

Naming an album the same as previous & dropping so soon after is not Nas like at all!

Im sure the direction of the album will be different! KD1 had the love songs! Doubt we will see that again. (Not a bad thing)

I'm a lil shakey about this album, Nas usually givens his albums time to breath (2 year spand) he never rushes anything.

What makes you think he rushed this project?


Nas and Hit Boy have NEVER stopped working and recording since the release of Kings Disease last year. They put out EPMD together. They put out Life Is Like A Dice Game. There literally hasn’t been an officially released Nas song in the past two years that WASN’T produced by Hit Boy.


I have no idea why anybody would think this project would be rushed whatsoever

I hope too, I was so frustrated by 27 summers, it deserved at least one more verse. It's 2 things :

Nas said that with time, he shortened his songs because he learned to get his point across quicker

The second thing could be money oriented. I think there's something to the effect that after 3 minutes of a song, the artist don't get paid. but I think it depends on the label, the budget and the contract. I don't think Nas in his position is subject to that anymore. And also a streaming sale for a song equal 30 seconds of active play of the song, so an artist don't need to make long songs to make sells. The shorter the albums are, the more replay value, the more it sells. I don't think that Nas approach his art like that but maybe...

These Stans is Crazy, As a Nas fan this is a classic and I like this album better than KD2, those Stans damn near tried to Lynch me because I said this album is better

KD1 is fire, I can respect that opinion, but...

I’m not sure which is better but I will say I feel like KD1 has better sequencing. I typically start at the top and let it run as opposed to KD2 where I usually start around the middle and jump around…which makes sense because it’s a continuation album.

I will say KD2 had a stronger close out (My Bible, Nas Is Good).

I don't skip no tracks off KD1 and I skip 2 track's off of KD2
