:laff: So Nas and everybody else is supposed to diss her because we think she's wack? Like him saying Iggy is wack changes anything. She's still wack to people to people who think she's wack. People that actually like her music probably don't even care about Nas or T.I.'s opinion of her for that matter. They probably don't even know the statement exists.

Because he's an important figure and has "taken a stand" against artists before.

Think about what he's said about other rappers before, those that actually make genuine hip hop and not some caricature of it

When he "took a stance", those same artists still had hit songs and huge albums. Nelly, N.O.R.E., and Cam's careers were unaffected by what he said. You think people actually stopped listening to them because Nas said they were wack or needed to step their game up.

As far as Iggy is concerned, you really think people who are fans of Iggy really care what's classified as genuine Hip Hop and that her music is a caricature of that? Nas is an important figure in Hip Hop, but his statements about Iggy don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Why? Because it doesn't really affect what people think/feel about her.

Did anyone actually watch the BET interview clip where he said this though?

All he said was having met her she seemed cool and liked Hip Hop but if she's gonna be in this rap game she's gonna have to be thick skinned
http://www.bet.com/news/celebrities/2014/10/02/nas-documentary-is-an-american-story.html

I dont really see him saying she needed to be defended, I dont really see him saying she's even dope. I know people like to clown Nas stans for defending dude but this is perfect example where he said something that isnt a big deal and people make it a big deal and call him a c00n.

Its kind of ridiculous how people overreact, especially when the rest of the interview he was taking about interesting stuff like how the setting for the doc has changed so much given gentrification and how black communties deal with that etc.

It can be kind of frustrating that people ignore all the other stuff he says but if he talks about a famous people jump on this.

Saying that having met her he didnt have a problem with her and seen her talk about Hip Hop and be aware isnt really c00ning. Y'all dudes do it the most with that talk
