It was supposed to be a double album that included most of the songs from the lost tapes and a couple from NaStradamus. The original tracklisting put it in the same class as Illmatic

That's album sales though, I'm talking about the perception of the album and how much the album is talked about today.

I Am was nice and not why Nas fell off for that short period. I Am has some pretty good tracks, Nastradamus doesn't.

Project Windows, Come get me,last words,quiet nikkas,

are fire. Nastradamus isnt all bad it just has too many bad songs smfh.

I Am... is probably Nas most accessible album. It was balanced and well rounded. With a few missteps (KISSING, Big Things, Dr. Knockboot) it was still an all around great effort. Always like the intro and how it goes into NYSOM pt. II. Hate Me Now was a banger. We Will Survive is probably one of the best tribute tracks to the legends Pac and BIG. Then you had Face and X bless the album with dope cuts. Small World was dope. Nas Is Like is a classic. Undying Love close it out. Just a great all around project IMO. 4.5/5

im a nas stan, but as a community we gotta stop trying to re-write the I Am/Nastradamous era...them bullsht ass records almost killed his career. He was so confused about the changing era in hip hop, and how to fit in. Hate me now was just embarrassing.

Not true

This may apply to "Nastradamus" but definitely not "I am". "I am" was considered almost Nas's return to form at that time. It got better critical responses than "It was written". The source gave it 4.5 mics. It went gold the first week, and stayed #1 for two weeks. It could've gone 3x platinum if nas and Columbia made the right moves (like releasing "you won't see me tonight" vid and a less offensive "hate me now" vid).
