Naruto is too stupid to be Hokage

It's hard to suspend disbelief and enjoy the Naruto series when Naruto is so clearly unfit for the Hokage position--yet was bequeathed the honor anyway. The Hokage's job is not merely going to ceremonial functions and fighting grand battles, but also managing ninja affairs, secrets and people. It is unclear how Naruto would handle the latter responsibilities given he lacks strategic prowess. He wouldn't even be alive if he wasn't the main character. Pain would have killed Naruto if it wasn't for Jiraiya's analytical prowess and plot no jutsu. The ninja most fit for the Hokage job is probably Sai. What he lacks in pure power he makes up for in intellect and black ops experience. He would protect Konoha more from behind the scenes that the lout Naruto.

If you going for strictly brains it would be Shikamaru. But we don't know the maturity that Naruto experienced during Kakashi tenure as Hokage. Hell the most balanced character would probably still be Kakashi

I think Shikamaru isn't powerful enough and doesn't have enough black ops experience to be Hokage. Sai would be like a more benevolent Danzo which would help balance things out with the other ninja powers. Shikamaru is too fair and kind to do what needs to be done. Say what you want about Danzo but he did help safeguard and secure Konoha from many threats during his Root tenure. Sai would act similarly for the good of the village.

I don't know. But then Shikamaru is doing all the actual work and Naruto just fiddles his thumbs? I think Naruto would be put to better use as a Jounin. He could then use his massive power to complete difficult missions for the village rather than sitting on his ass and delegating everything to Shikamaru.

That all aside, this question is completely unrelated to OP but why does Orochimaru dress like a woman in the last gaiden?

Edit: Ahh, Orochimaru is definitely gay. He was introduced in a woman's body in the beginning, is obsessed with boys and is always swallowing things for no apparent reason.

According to the Boruto movie, Naruto and his clones do most of the work but Shika is there to help. Maybe during his adulthood he's gotten smarter.

Lets not act like Shizune didnt do a lot too when Tsunade was Hokage.

Naruto and Shika is as good as Tsunade and Shizune which did a descent job as Hokage and probably even better since Shika is a genius so he has the mental which balances out Narutos stupidity and brawn.

Tsunade was an expert medical ninja so presumably she's smart enough to understand medicine and antidotes, which may require some level of higher intellect.

She became lazy later on but wasn't lazy as a Sannin. She's smarter than Naruto (or should be smarter than him). Naruto is the dumbest Hokage ever. Every other Hokage was either a genius or very smart.

By the time she became Hokage she was already lazy.

Her intellect was normal and not genius like Shika so that doesnt say much especially when you factor that Naruto by that point is more stronger than Tsunade and works harder lol.

I just looked it up and apparently Tsunade is very smart. Kishimoto's data book rates her intelligence as a 5, the highest rating:

Even Sasuke only had a 3.5 intelligence in the last databook which makes Tsunade's rating even more impressive. So Tsunade is as smart or smarter than Sasuke and far smarter than Naruto. Naruto by comparison is dumb as bricks and the dumbest Hokage ever. His intelligence rating is only 3 in the latest databook.

Naruto's stupidity precludes him from being able to, for example, sense shrewd infiltrations like what Deidara did in the Sand village. Gaara was only able to discover Deidara's plan because of how observant and smart he is. Naruto's dumbass wouldn't sense anything until it became obvious. That's the difference.

You are talking about before he became Hokage.

By the time Naruto became Hokage especially based on your stats his intelligence became a 3 which is pretty normal.
